Getting rid of all my baby stuff is making me wonder

Lately I have been really comfortable with my decision in only having one child. I know I have questioned myself in the past, and wondered if it was the right thing. But I have come to the conclusion that it is right for us. I simply don't want another child.

I went through and cleaned out the house of all the baby stuff, listed some stuff on craigslist and plan on having a yard sale soon.

But of course today when the first couple things sold off craigslist (pack and play and high chair) I started having doubts and second thoughts. Just about selling the stuff. I still DON"T want another child now. But wondering if I jumped the gun on selling all the crap!

Part of me says why bother selling unless i am straped for $$ (which we aren't, just wanted junk out of house) until it is absoluletly never an option.
The other part of me says if i can't afford to buy new stuff on the slim chance we change our mind in the future then I can't afford another child anyways!

Anyways... I mostly just venting and pondering to myself. But was wondering....

Do you get rid of stuff frequently or do you hold onto everything on that slim chance you'd use again? Plus I do think on the absolute slim chance I ever had another... half the stuff I didn't like anyways and would get newer versions anyways. But then i look at my garage and think of the thousands I spent (or was given) on this stuff.

I'm about to go through that soon. We kept everything after our first son, even though I didn't have plans for another baby. Then we had our surprise baby, so we had everything to use. We really do not plan on having a 3rd, at all, but I still want to keep all the boxes of my favorite clothes and stuff. I plan to sell all of the big stuff (but hubby wants to keep the crib?) before we move this summer. I know I'll question myself, and be sad about it at the same time

Since Samson has decided to outgrow a bunch of 0-3 month size stuff early I am already being faced with this problem. I have been saving just expensive/cute stuff. Although in your situation I would just get rid of it all. Maybe you are just having some nostalgia? Honestly though if you have an oops baby used stuff is really not that expensive. I did almost everything used with Samson and you would be surprised how much stuff people are willing to give you for free.

I wanted to have a third baby and my husband didn't. I finally agreed with him and was okay with only having the two. I went back to school to get my RN degree and gave ALL of our baby stuff to my brother that lives 1200 miles away. I called the doctor to schedule an appointment for my husband to get a vasectomy and 2 days later I found out I was pregnant with a third baby I guess what I'm trying to say is if there is even a tiny bit of chance that you could have another baby.....keep everything. It was very expensive to replace everything. Everything we gave to my brother was only 4 years old and it still looked brand new. I would have much rather spent the money on other things than on $2000 worth of stuff that I just gave away.

I sell everything as soon as we are done with it, without the slightest bit of hesitation. Even with 4 kids. The only 'baby' item that we used for all 4 boys was the Crib. Everything else, I bought all new for each baby. Clothes, High chairs, baby slings, etc. Partly because I want each child to have their own brand new stuff (and not hand-me-downs) and partly because my own style/likes/dislikes have changed over the years. The stroller that I thought was cute for baby #3 wasn't something I liked anymore by the time baby #4 came around. Plus, they always come out with way cool baby stuff each year and I feel like I need to upgrade.

This is more how I feel. I think it is just a bit of nostalgia and partly sad bc I always had my mind that I might have 2 but now i REALLY only want 1.

I always said even the stuff I did have I would have done better or different because you know more after the 1st. I wouldn't have gotten a travel system stroller, etc. If there is ever an oops or I completely change my mind I could be used the stuff I could care less about like high chair and pack and play and buy new the stuff I really like.

Ok... off it goes!!

I will keep one box of my favorite outfits just because.

^ I'm going to keep a few of my all time favorite outfits of theirs, for ever, just because. My mom kept a few of my outfits, and it was neat to see them later on.

I keep the super special stuff in a bin.. everything else.. I got rid of.. even though Im not 100% sure Im done. My favorite crib is long gone.. but Ill keep my jogging stroller, amby and co-sleeper sleigh, because they were special to me.. and my ergo! I figured if I did have more.. as far as clothes and things go.. Id want to buy new for that baby.. same with our cloth diapers.. I just took pics of everything and saved those.. theyll last longer than the items will anyway

After I gave away all of my girls baby clothes, I found out I was pregnant 1 month later

I wouldn't feel bad though. You can always replace the stuff if you change your mind.

I *wish* I could get rid of all my baby stuff I've listed stuff like the swing, bouncer seat, etc on Craigslist and Kijiji several times, the only thing I managed to sell was the jumperoo As far as the crib goes, I HATE that thing, my MIL bought it for us (we were supposed to pick it out), she picked it out, and it's falling apart now It's totally NOT what I'd have picked out, and I'm STILL bitter over it. So, even if we do decide to have another (highly unlikely), we'll have to buy a new crib anyway. Once Anna is out of that thing, I'm looking forward to smashing it into splinters

I kept DD stuff for a couple years but then decided we weren't having any more. Sold most of her clothes (except for the ones I couldn't part with! ), most of her toys, stoller, etc. Only thing we kept was the crib and pack and play. Now being PG again (5 yrs later) I'm glad that I didn't keep all that stuff. It's kinda fun to buy new stuff!!

Well now that I am pregnant again I WISH I didn't just sell my really cute bassinet but that's the ONLY thing that I miss from my first baby . I am sooo excited about going out and buying new things and having a different 'theme.' I remember at my baby shower getting so much stuff (doubles & triples of things) so I know I will have everything. OP - you will be fine!

I KNOW I am not having another baby, and if if I did, I would buy new stuff...

but I am having a really hard time parting with my son's belongings.

I have only sold some clothes recently, I have absolutely everything else, and he's almost 4. I am weird that way.

I just went through a similar thing. I was sure I was only going to have one, so I sold a bunch of things like the highchair, pack n play, clothes, travel system, jumperoo, etc. Now I have changed my mind, and I want one more! I figure hopefully I'll have a boy, and I would have had to buy new things anyways. Plus, that's what baby showers are for!
