best baby carrier/sling?

devon loves to be held ALL the time. i like that she's so snuggly, but sometimes i need to get things done with my arms free or at least partly free. i have a few peanut shells, but i can't seem to get devon into them comfortably. i don't know if i'm doing it wrong or what, but i have tried numerous times so i'm thinking i need something different. would love some recommendations

Ergo baby was my favorite. I had a Native sling and had the same problem getting her in and in a comfortable position. I also used a Moby Wrap which is versatile, but can be a pain to get on particularly in public because it is so long it drags on the ground. They can also be very warm in the summer. Ergo was comfy cause the weight is carried on your hips so can be used longer and easy to get in and out of. I also found that Ava preferred to be carried in the upright position as opposed to cradled so Ergo was on the money for that.

My mom just bought me the Babyhawk Mei Tai carrier. I haven't used mine yet ( ) but I did try it out on a weighted baby in the boutique and it was awesome! It was easy to use and since it is all ties, you can "custom" fit it on you.

I really hated my baby sling...but I loved the Moby Wrap - I really felt like the little one was actually secure in it. Agree with PP though, I didn't find it to be that great for use in public because it's so long that if you are taking it on and off its a pain. But if you are just wrapping babe up in it and leaving them in the carrier its great.

I used the Belle Baby Carrier when Mason was younger and the peanut shell when he was older. I usually carried him in the peanut shell like a kangaroo.

But for sure loved the Belle Baby Carrier!!!

i used the Moby Wrap too, and i agree with Terri; it's very secure.

it is hard to take off and put on repeatedly. so for outings (like shopping) i used the baby bjorn. i wore my babies constantly.

I wasn't fond of the Baby Bjorn but I liked the Beco carrier - you can carry baby in front or on your back.

I hated my baby bjorn. I wore it twice and it never fit me right. I pretty short, I don't know if that had anything to do w/ the fit or not. Hope the other one works out for you!

I used the Baby Bjorn early on when DD wasn't too heavy. It became really umcomfortable as all the weight goes on your shoulders. Beco is similar to Ergo baby. They have really nice fabric choices.

I loved my Storchenwiege wrap but it's a wrap so it is an issue to take it on and off in public. However, I rarely really took it off since I too carried my babies constantly. What I loved about my Storch is that I could carry my babies in so many ways, including on my back. I have pictures of me on the London Eye, in Machu Picchu, and at a hummingbird reserve in Ecuador with my baby on my back. LOL I also used to cook with my babies on my back.

Have fun--I so very much miss my babywearing days.

Storchenwiege - Your Baby Sling - Home

Also you can go here: thebabywearer.com

Go to their forums, then scroll down to the "marketplace" and you'll see "for sale or trade". It's the same as our AF Mall but with baby carriers instead. Lots of great info on that whole site in general.

Has anyone tried a ring sling? My ergo is great but it is really hot and Sam gets hot super easy.

I was looking at sleepingbaby.net has anyone tried those?

I have a Ring sling. It's the Maya wrap. My daughter didn't take to it too well as an infant. As she got a little older, I didn't think it was as secure as the Ergo. I mostly used the upright carries. Overall, I don't think the Ergo is that hot. My Moby wrap was so much worse in the summer. PM if you are interested in the Maya as ours is practically new.

Reviving this! I'm overwhelmed by all the baby carriers...I had a Baby Bjorn with K but I hated it. I was going to get a Moby Wrap, but I don't like the wrapping part I also heard they stretch out I'm thinking of a Maya Wrap...anyone use one?

I was never a wrap fan, but I LOVED our ergo! I recently sent it off to live with Taryn, I dont think shes gotten to use it with P yet because hes still so tiny, but I bet she'll be able to chime in on it when hes big enough to use it

I had a Maya Wrap and I loved it. I found it comfortable and easy to use.

For some adventures I used the Baby Bjorn, and that was great too.

I used the Maya wrap too and liked it when the babies were smaller. When baby is heavier, I used the Ergo almost constantly. Good thing about the Maya is it's pretty adjustable so you can share it.

Nicole is right; Parker's not big enough to use the Ergo yet, but I can't wait to use it!!

I also have a Maya ring sling (but thinking about selling it), a Moby wrap, and a Mei Tai. Oh, and I just bought an Ellaroo wrap.
