back pack baby carriers

Does anybody have any suggestions for baby carriers that put baby on the back? Connor is just too heavy to wear on my chest My shoulders burn and my back hurts after just 10-15 minutes I would love to find a carrier that he could use now and several months from now for hiking, festivals and such

Jennifer! I love babywearing! So I wrap my little guy on my back (my husband does too). It's really comfortable and easy to do (after you get the hang of it).
If you want something with a little less of a learning curve - you could try the Beco or Ergo... look at the buckle carriers at Slings I Love.com

I've tried A LOT of things so I'm happy to offer my opinions if you are interested!

ETA: what are you currently using? also consider joining thebabywearer.com. They have a great FSOT section where you can get a lot of carriers slightly used for a bit cheaper. Carriers quickly become addicting however!

We have this: Kelty FC 3.0 Frame Child Carrier at REI.com
It is pretty comfy, but I would suggest having Dad wear it since Connor is so heavy

I would personally recommend the Ergo Baby. We also have a Deuter backpack carrier that we borrowed from a friend. It's this one. Deuter Kid Comfort III Child Carrier at REI.comIt's really nice, but a bit much for me. DH uses it and Ava like it because she sits up high and faces forward. It also has a sun canopy which is nice for the summer.

My baby is 2 and I still want to wear him I took him for a walk on my back in the snugli and my shoulders and neck hurt for a few days after... I'm going to check out some of the frame packs.

I have an older model of the Kelty back pack. I only used (will use) it when I go hiking/camping. IMO, it's kinda too big and bulky to use around the house.

Oh definitely, but for festivals it would be great!

Thanks ladies! I found a barely used Kelty on Craig's List for $75 today

I needed a carrier more for the Zoo, Science Museum, Festivals, etc, so that I can take Spencer to do stuff and not bring a stroller for Connor. For the house, I will just make do with the baby bjorn and deal with a little bit of soreness for the few times that I feel I need to wear him at home. I just can't justify 2 different carriers
