Morning Sickness Help!

For the last week I have been nauseaous but no sickness... Then yesterday afternoon it hit me and I have been hovering over the toilet ever since. I can't keep anything down besides graham crackers! I am almost at my six week mark and I don't think I can go another seven more weeks not eating anything! (That is hoping morning sickness dies down after the first trimester!)

Any suggestions on what to eat? I am actually pretty hungry but the fear of it coming back up is more than my hunger!!! I'm pretty sure I can't live off of crackers!

Thanks!

Start small and light.. and blaaaaand as possible, then work your way up. I think at one point I could only eat subway subs and only one kind and if they dare snuck anything on it that wasn't requested Id die.

Congratulations! Tell us your due date and I'll add you to the due date sticky.

the biggest secret to soothing morning sickness is to always have something in your stomach. an empty stomach allows the acids to kick into overdrive. that combined with low blood sugars associated with hunger is a bad combo.

I had morning sickness to varying degrees all six times. I had to be pit in zofran for #4, and I hardly felt anything with a couple.

Ginger is also supposed to be good for nausea. Ginger candy, crystallized ginger, ginger cookies, and even ginger pills (check with dr. on those).

And...

Congrats!!!!!!!!! You're out of the closet.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks guys! My due date is September 13th... Which also happens to be my wedding anniversary also!

I read about Ginger and I saw some of those preggie pops when I bought some maternity bras but sucking on a ginger lollypop just did not sound appealing! But Ginger cookies are a whoooooolllllllleeeee other story!

^No just one!

I only had one mature egg when they triggered... Unless another one was hiding somewhere!

another thing to keep in mind: at this point, your baby is feeding from your reserves (from before you even conceived), so what you eat during this first trimester is pretty irrelevant to your baby's long-term health. what you can keep down, eat. as morning sickness eases, you will start to tolerate more variety. baby's growth in the second and third trimester will require more balance/nutrition.

my doctor told me that if all i could tolerate was cookies in the first few weeks, eat cookies.

^This.

I could eat plain toast, crackers, lemonade, preggy pops, and most breads while I was sick. If I didn't eat atleast every 3 hours, just a little something I was sick I basically ate anything that at the thought of eating it or drinking it didn't make me feel like throwing up, then it would work

Gin Gins (hard ginger candy) and preggy pops (available at motherhood maternity/babiesrus, and online) helped me a lot with my last preg. I couldn't eat much for 4 months , but I could drink ensure and whole milk with carnation instant breakfast mixed in to help keep my calories and nutrient intake up

Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

I'm pretty much sticking to all the dry stuff... We went out to dinner last night with my parents and all I could eat was tortillas and rice... The chicken from my fajitas made me feel not so good... Luckily my husband and I were sharing because my parents don't know yet and it would have been pretty hard to hide the fact that I really wasn't eating!

So far I have found that lunch tends to stay down more than other meals... I don't know if that is because I tend to nap after lunch or what. My other meals still are consisting of breads, crackers, and fruit in the form of smoothies!

I picked up some jolly ranchers and suck on them before I go to bed because that's when I tend to get the most sick and they seem to keep nausea at bay.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Quoted for truth!

I puked like the exsorcist (sp?) chick 24 hrs a day for 8 months. The less I could keep down the more sick I got. Eventually I had to resort to candy. When I got pregnant I had not eaten any candy since 13 (was 25 then) and I had no plans on starting but it was the only thing that I could keep down long enough to raise my blood sugar enough so that I could eat something else and be able to keep it.

Oh, and congratulations! ;)
