Q for those who have weaned a toddler

Hi Ladies,
I fully weaned Mia one week ago. I am a little sad now but it is too late to go back... Anyway, I have been having DH put Mia to sleep because she normally nursed to sleep every night. I tried last night to put her to sleep, she screamed, wrestled, pulled on my shirt, and hit my chest. She finally calmed down and fell asleep but then woke up and screamed when I tried to put her in the crib. So I would start over and everytime she fell asleep and I tried to put her in the crib she would wake up and scream. This went on for 40 minutes. Finally DH took over and she was sleeping quitely within 10 minutes. DH is going out of town the week after next and I need to be able to put her to sleep. Anyone have tips? Help please!

Wow, sorry to hear about your frustrations. I'm normally the one who puts my kids to sleep so i can not relate.

Sorry.

What does your husband do when he rocks her to sleep that maybe you are not doing? How about singing to her? maybe put on one of his shirts when you are putting her to sleep? Sorry, i am not much help.

I usually ended up sleeping in the same bed with them.

Me too, and that's why I didn't answer the question.

I was always pregnant while weaning (or had a newborn) so I did whatever it took to get to the next day.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to try to put her to bed tonight. Yesterday afternoon she was having a really hard time with her molars. When I got home from work she was crying hysterically so I layed her on my tummy and I gave her a massage and she got really calm. I am hoping that I can do the same to get her to sleep tonight. She seems to be starting to forget about nursing. This morning was the first that she did not do the sign for milk. I hope those teeth don't give her trouble today... Poor little muffin

I actually got her to sleep without much protest. I think she is starting to forget about nursing. Yay, I am not scared about hubby leaving town now!

When I weaned my youngest (at 17 months), I cuddled up with him before bed with his sippy of milk, and he was fine with that. We probably did that for a few months before he didn't want to every night... and now I'm lucky if he'll let me cradle him with a cup of milk

I miss it!
