pumping...

sucks!
this is mostly a rant. devon is not very good at breastfeeding (comfort nurses or falls asleep too quickly), so i've basically been pumping exclusively. i feel like my whole life right now is pumping.
plus i stink... like maple syrup.
hope it gets better because i am getting depressed.

that's all.

Hang in there, it gets easier and your body will get used to the pump and let more milk out.

I had the same problem with Mason comfort nursing too. Have you tried different methods to keep him awake? Cold towel, take off some of his clothing, tickling feet? It was hard for me at first too

But hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine said "group hug, group hug, group hug..." But after a short time I rented a symphony because the pump in style just could not get enough milk. That one is really quiet.

Is there a le leche league by you? Maybe a lactation specialist at your doctor?

I am so sorry! Poor Cat.

What sucks is that most insurance companies won't cover lactation consultant services. They promote breastfeeding, but won't chip in and help pay if it doesn't go perfectly. Breastfeeding is "supposed" to be natural. Yeah, that's why so many of us need assistance. Hell, I had an LC come to my house a few times after my SIXTH baby! It may be MY sixth time breastfeeding, but it was STILL Emaan's first time. Every baby is different.

I will def have to get one of these symphony pumps. I went through 2 pumps in 3 months with Abram. They were crappy Wal-Mart ones.

Does the le leache league charge? My neighbhor is in a group like that and she said to call her anytime and she will come over. I love living in hippy land.

I am sure I will need help. I think a lot of it is that we don't have enough women around us who BF. The 80's (when I was born) was when many were still rec. formula and proclaiming it modern. Many of my friends with children didn't bf so it is hard to get people to help you. (plus the whole weird modesty issue).

Lame. Check out the forum I linked to though. They seem really nice with my diaper questions.

I rented my pump online, let me do some digging and I will post the link. It is $55/mo and the shipping was $10.

My mom BF me, but no one in hubby's family has ever done it, and they all looked at me like I had three heads when I was pg with #1 and said I was gonna BF Whatever, I didn't have to carry a ginormous diaper bag to haul around bottles and formula

I was amazed at how discreet I didnt have to be around here, unless my GFIL was around and it grossed him out and was "inappropriate" but I got so many encouraging responses from total strangers (of course, I never flashed my boobs in public, but I never let where I was stop me!)

The DS group is pretty... uh, I cant think of a nice word.. but just dont let them bother you and they could be helpful. Im trying to think of the name of the group I joined when I was still nursing my son, but Im drawing a blank..
