Maternity Jeans...

Hello everyone! I am now 6 months pregnant (yikes ) and i'm contemplating on whether or not to even purchase maternity jeans or continue wearing my regular jeans (with the Bella Band). Since maternity clothes are a little pricier than regular jeans, I was just thinking that I could probably size up on jeans if I need to and continue with the Bella Band. My boyfriend keeps lecturing me on how I'm going to NEED them no matter what during my last trimester and drags me to the maternity section every time we go to the mall. I just don't see the point as of right now. Seeing that I have 3 months to go, I don't know on whether or not I should get some.

Any opinions/comments? Thanks in advance.

OMG, yay!!! You and I are only 2 days apart in our due dates!
I have a couple of pairs of maternity right now & let me tell you they are a godsend on days where I am feeling big & don't want any sort of waistband on me! Mostly right now I have larger sizes (my pp size is a 27 & I'm in 29/30 right now) And depending on how you gain weight, your boyfriend may be right...not much will fit you your last month. (that is my case anyway, everyone is different) I know there are some ladies on the forum that can stay in their PP size with just a bella band...let me tell you that I am NOT one of them!!! Might be nice to just find a cheaper pair on ebay or on here just to have. All in my opinion! COngrats & yay for January 2010 babies!

I love my maternity jeans. I have the bella band and I wear it with normal jeans but only when my maternity jeans are in the wash. I have one pair of COH fayes and one pair of hudsons. The COH are way more comfortable though. I bought the COH from ebay for 30 and the Hudsons from the mall here. If you sell them back you can make the money you spent back. I think you should invest in at least one pair in a dark wash. I have tried the non-premium maternity jeans and the bands are not as comfy. Congrats on your pregnancy!!

I was able to wear my regular jeans up until about 6 months with the bella band but the opening of the jeans would dig into my lower belly and it would kill!!!

I think maternity jeans are awesome and so comfy. My personal favorites were my Sevens and Citizens because it had the super high stretchy waist band that came all the way up. These jeans also did not have have any kind of opening such as a zipper. I think the seamlessness made it so comfy.

My Rock and Republics not so comfy. Had zipper, button and all and sat below my belly.

I say wear what makes you comfy.............. Good luck and congrats!!!

I love the band on my COH. I like that you can put it on the belly or under it.

wakerider30: OMG! Yay! To be honest I don't know how my due date came about. They skipped a whole 2 weeks after my conception date but hey :idk...can't argue with the Ultrasound Technician lady. I haven't gained so much weight, but at my 21 week appointment I stepped on the scale and gained 12lbs since the beginning of my pregnancy. I'm kind of all belly though. I was a 24 in 7FAM, a 25 in TR, and a 23/24 in R&R (etc etc.) before my pregnancy. I can still fit into my 7FAM with my Bella Band but my TR & R&R...not so much. .

ilovecaseyandcoach: How do you know what size to get in maternity jeans ? I walked into Destination Maternity a month ago and they didn't have many sizes to try on so I just left. I guess I should invest in a couple maternity jeans. I wanted to be cheap and just stick with Old Navy and Gap Maternity jeans, but the reviews aren't so good and I never really fit into their regular jeans in the first place. (That's my excuse for wanting to purchase premium maternity jeans for my bf .)

shoesandbags: Ahh! That's what my jeans do to me right now too! It feels like my zipper scratches me every time I walk. And really? I thought the ones without the band would be more comfortable. All of my Bella Bands keep sliding up and down from my jeans. I was kind of eye-balling a pair of R&R maternity jeans on sale. Now I don't know what to do.

Thanks to all and congrats on your pregnancy also!

Personally I would buy one pair, and for cheaper from here or eBay. They will resell easily, and for most women, the third trimester is quite drastic, lol.

I know it was for me every time.

congrats on your pregnancy!

I just went up two sizes. I will probably have to buy one more bigger pair later. I could probably squeeze into my normal jeans but why should I when my maternity ones are new.

I never wore maternity jeans, and absolutely love and recommend the bella bands!! I did go up a couple sizes in normal jeans, but didn't ever find maternity jeans that fit/that werent hideous. Wearing normal jeans gives you more options post pregnancy while you're losing baby weight, then you can sell them more easily than maternity jeans when you're done

I just bought a couple pairs off ebay. One pairs of 7FAM one pair of COH. I sized up 2 in the 7FAM and 3 in the COH I'm not sure how they will fit but I think it all depends on how you grow. I know I get massive, especially in the end so I'm hoping I can wear the 7FAM now until 3 trimestor and then wear the COH in the later part of the second all the way to the end. That's my plan anyway!! I just scored them both a couple days ago for $50 shipped to Canada.

I went to Motherhood Maternity and tried on some of their jeans (non-PD) and they felt fine but I had such a grandma ass. Before my PD days they would have been fine but now I know better! I also figured the new non-PD jeans at the store cost $50-$70 and I can get lightly used PD maternity on ebay that will feel better, look better and resell better, that investing in those ones are way better and cheaper in the long run!

I bought a bellaband in hopes I could wear my jeans longer but I got big so quickly. I can still wear it but I find it slides all over the place and my maternity pants I have now are actually more comfy

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Erin & Shi are so right about the reselling too. The Gap ones can be really cute, but don't resell worth anything after. Just makes it sad to give them away when you spent so much on them in the first place. I have a few pairs from Old Navy & Gap from my last pregnancy, but my standards are higher this time Let us know what you get!!!

morbid_gray: That's what I was thinking. I always thought about just going up a size in regular jeans (still use the Bella Band) so that way I can wear them post-partum. But I don't know what size i'm going to be after the whole nine yards. People are telling me you get to keep the hips ! I'll still get some maternity jeans to pamper myself.

Canadian Girl: Grandma ass?! Eww! You can tell just from looking at the pictures online that their jeans would make you have a droopy butt. And my bella bands slide off of my jeans too, especially after getting out of the car. My bf would have to run up to me and pull them back onto the zipper part when we're in public .

wakerider30: I was never one to ever fit into Gap's jeans. I love their tops though. I will definitely update when I find some good maternity jeans.

THANKS EVERYONE!

I also purchased several pairs of old navy maternity jeans. My body is shaped somewhat like a boy................ I am straight and flat everywhere!!!! I had to be careful with purchasing maternity jeans online or on ebay. I had to be able to try them on.

I found that old navy fit the best ................

BTW, I absolutely loved Isabella Oliver maternity tops. I bought several of them, mostly for my maternity photo session and for my baby shower. They are designed to flatter and not hide. Check it out. A little pricey but they are fabulous!!!!

I agree with buying some used maternity PD! My first pregnancy I tried to be frugal and got by with Gap and ON jeans as well as bella bands with my regular pants. But the Gap and ON maternity jeans were just as unflattering on me as their regular ones. When you already feel like a whale, it's so worth it to have a couple pair you know make your butt look good!

My big complaint with maternity jeans that have the panel is that I'm always pulling them up. I don't know if this happens to everyone or if it's just how I'm shaped. I bought a pair of Habitual maternity jeans that don't have the panel and they are my favorite. They have a very low rise in front with a higher rise in back (no embarrassing moments getting out of your car!), and an adjustable waistband. I'm only 20 weeks now, but I think they'll last to the end... we'll see!

I just bought some a couple weeks ago and LOVE THEM! The sizing is a little weird as I got two tops that are both size 1, one is a little snug and the other is quite baggy and will be great in the later stages. It could be just the style but there is a guge difference in the way these two fit. I also have a couple bandeau tops coming my way this week soon. I really wanted somethign stylish and fun for when we go on holidays in December (Disney for a week and then Mexico for a week) and since my maternity wardrobe is mostly fall/winter my summer collectin is lacking. I am very excited about my IO and I no longer feel like I am wearing a muumuu! They are pricey though....even on ebay

Erin, I bought the wrap around top (which I later sold on ebay for almost what I bought it for), the ruched cami which is an absolute must and the scoop top for colder days ( I was preggo from July to April, so I got all four seasons). Because all these tops were the stretchy, I decided to go one size up for me which was a 1. And I am glad I did!!

Anyone who has worn Isabella Oliver will fall in love..............

Oooooo ! About that, did you do your photo session with a free-lance photographer or at a portrait studio? I'm really wanting to do a free-lance photographer so there could be more variety, but the portrait studio seems less of a hassle. I'm having a hard time choosing.

We used a free lance photographer, but she is also our photographer for everything. Our wedding, birthdays, maternity session, newborn session. We love our photographer.

I would think a free lance photographer is much more expensive but I think you could get really good quality photos from a portrait studio. Just be creative and come up with your own ideas for poses, etc.... They may just have their "standard" poses.

Here are a few pics from our sessions. She also did the birth announcements. They are double sided which made them very unique. These are actually photos of photos that's why they look so grainy and weird!! Good luck!!!
