Oh no, I kept thinking something was wrong and my order didn't go through since I got one immediately but the one I bought with my husband's groupon didn't arrive yet. So I think I may have ordered like 7. :rofl:roll

i didn't do it, i'm just watching a few threads on different websites where people have purchased $600+ worth.
And this is why companies stop doing promotions like this one. Because people abuse it. :shake

The Bar/Restaurant that I work at did a Living Social coupon for $15 for $30 worth of stuff. It is awful to see how many people used to system to get SEVERAL of them. I've seen the same lady come in 4 different times and use one. Each time under a different name and pays with cash so I can't check it against her card. (and I only work 1 night a week so who knows how many more times she has come in) We only get $7 of it so the restaurant actually loses money each time someone uses one. Worst part of all, the typical Groupon/LivingSocial user that comes in there is such a cheap-ass that they will only tip on the amount that they actually have to pay. For example, their dinner will come to $33 and they will put in the Living Social coupon plus $4. (so a whole $1 tip). Awesome.

To the people who did get more then 1...did you use different names/emails/etc?? I tried to get 2 for me and 2 for my mom but used all the same info. So far I only received one. Oh well...something is better then nothing. :)

^Totally. To me, Groupon-like deals only really hurt businesses. It has come to the point that I realize that (for the most part) only companies that are desperate for customers will have Groupons/LivingSocial/Bloomspot, so I tend to shy away from those companies unless I've already have a good previous experience with them.

Those deals are also very much a one time thing and nobody really retains customers from them. The market is way too saturated right now anyways. Consumers are being trained to look only for places with discounts now. I worked very briefly at a startup that was trying to pull the opposite, so it was an interesting to see what techniques and mechanisms were being put in to try to lure consumers without losing too much $ (exclusivity, status, etc.).

I see your point, but if I had a really great experience at a restaurant that I only went to because I bought a groupon/gift card, I would definitely return. Unfortunately, usually when I go to the restaurant, I see why they needed to sell groupons in the first place... Oh and the ones I've been to automatically add tip onto the original total.
But in terms of profit, I'm sure there are lots of customers who never end up redeeming their groupon, so that ends up being free money for the business. :)

Since we are a new bar/restaurant we did it to generate new business. And in many cases, it has. They sold over 1000 in 24 hours, which for this small/med size City is pretty good. Even if just 1/8th of those turn out to be new regular customers I suppose it will all be worth it. Time will tell. :)

The bar/restaurant I used to work for used Restaurant.com, and they would sell $25 on there for $10 or $50 gift certificates for $20. We used to get $7 on every $10 certificate...I'm not sure what they do with promotions that the site runs though such as 80-90% off. We eventually had to list that 18% tip would be added/applied to the prediscounted bill b/c as others have said... Say a person uses the random promotions and gets the $25 for like $1 or $2, they'll come in and have 2 dinners which is roughly $40.. with the GC their bill was now $15 so in essence they paid $16/$17 for dinner. Instead of tipping on $40 (which would be like $6-$8) people would just tip on the $15 and leave the servers like $2-$3! :shake

I've also had multiple couples come in together, all sit at one table, then ask to split the bills and use multiple coupons as well. Even though the coupon clearly said 1 per table.
