Wallet trouble

I just got ripped off $70 for a POS fake LV wallet, my fault, didn't do my homework, but am in the process of getting my money back. Anyways, I saw this forum and saw that this item was mentioned here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...DME:L:RTQ:US:1
I am planning to purchase it and spend up to 200-250 if needed, but definitely need to confirm authenticity before making such a purchase. I e-mailed the seller asking about some sort of authenticity code inside the wallet and got this reply:

I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYKIND OF #S PRINTED IN ANY LV ITEMS.....ONLY FAKES. ALTHO, I WAS IN A LV SHOP A COUPLE WEEKS AGO IN FLORIDA AND WAS TOLD THERE THAT SOMETIMES CODE DATES ARE STAMPED INSIDE, BUT ALWAYS HARD TO FIND...NEVER RIGHT INSIDE AND EASY TO SEE. THE GIRL COULDN'T EVEN FIND ONE!I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY SUCH STAMP WERE YOU CAN SEE IT ON THIS WALLET. I'M SORRY I AM SELLING A WALLET THAT I PERSONALLY BOUGHT AT SACKS AND KNOW THAT IT IS REAL. I DONOT GIVE A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE BECAUSE IT BECOMES A BIG HASSEL. DAVE

I am not sure whether the item is authentic and ask anyone to take a look ,read the description, and give me any tips, advice, or questions to ask the seller. Thank you for all your help.

i wouldn't buy it just because of ALL THE CAPS; it annoys the heck out of me! it seems like he was being a little rude/defensive in the reply to you. sellers that are like that aren't worth my money or troubles (should there be any flaws, the item goes missing in the mail, etc), imo.

If you're so concerned about not wanting the hassle, you're best bet is just to buy a REAL one online from eluxury or from a LV store.

Personally - I wouldn't buy it based on what the seller wrote to you AND in his description.

Quote from listing:
"IN THE 1990S SMALL LV LEATHER GOODS WERE COMMONLY MADE IN SPAIN AND THE U.S.A. THIS ONE IS STAMPED "LOUIS VUITTON PARIS, MADE IN USA". BECAUSE IT'S MADE IN THE U.S.A. IS ANOTHER REASON YOU ARE ASSURED THAT IT IS AUTHENTIC. ALL FAKE LVS ARE STAMPED "MADE IN FRANCE".......NEVER USA!"

He claims that all LV's that state "Made in France is FAKE", well my purse says Louis Vuitton Paris Made in France - and, I KNOW that mine is not fake since I bought mine directly from LV.

The wallet in the pics look real BUT I would never buy from a seller with that kind of attitude. It's not the authenticilty you need to worry about it. The condition might have been mispresentated. He just doesn't sound like a nice person to deal with.

Buying froma seller like that is asking for trouble, bait and switch, non performing, all sorts of stuff. "I do not offer a money back guarantee because of the hassle" If the item is AUTHENTIC there would be no hassle in offering a money back guarantee....

item is real.

also, i hope you realize that most people who buy luxury goods know nothing about them. there is probably a date code in it but he can't find it. it's usually hidden stamped really close to the seam.

Not knowing is one thing, not willing to cooperate is another. My mom and my sister have been using LV's for years and I bet neither one of them know there is a number inside their bag and what it means.

I've had sellers respond by saying they don't know anything about the number but would be willing to send more pics...etc.

Besides the seller's attitude he doesnt know carp about what he is talking about! He should know that Saks is not spelled "Sax"
Just because a LV item is made in the US does NOT make it authentic. Also all fakes are NOT stamped "made in France"! Vuitton has been manufactured in many countries and yes France was definantely one of them!
I started to say that LV wallets never come with a clear ID window but then I saw where he says it's a MEN's wallet, which I believe those do have the ID window.
The wallet does appear to be authentic and should have a date code somewhere inside it. I am always afraid of the old "bait and switch" scam. If the wallet pictured was indeed real that doesnt mean that's what he'll send you. Then he'll probably want a letter from LV saying in writing that the item is not real. Guess what? Louis Vuitton NEVER authenticates anything in writing, so a letter like that is not gonna happen and lots of scam artists know this already!

It looks to me like a Porte Billet wallet. After researching LV history, I see that they were made in California for a time. I think I will purchase the wallet and if the LV stores says it's not authentic, it is protected by Paypal.

Good luck with them. Again I do think the wallet looks real in the pics.

BTW there are a few LV wallet styles with a window ID slot.
