its for locking the speedy closed with the lock and key hehe. white ones dont have it.

MC Speedy has a S lock, not a regular lock. That's why there is no holes there.

It seems like there are actually a lot of authentic LV sellers in Hong Kong...I bought one from lvlady99 and it's beautiful. I know there's others, too, but like you, I find it sort of surprising.

Designer purses are very popular in Asian countries, hence there are a lot of supply in the 2nd hand market as well. There are a few reputable LV re-sellers on Ebay that are from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
