So, I bought a Speedy

Now I need a wallet. Any tips are making sure those are authentic before you buy, and why do they cost as much as the bag?

Wallets cost almost as much as bags most times because of the detailing. For example a speedy is just a big piece of canvas with a zipper while a wallet has more compartments, seams, stitching...etc. What kind of styles are you looking for? Long, short? The more popular styles are billfold, PTI, zipped compact wallet...IMO. Koala is nice but costs a bit more than the rest.

There are tons of fake LV wallets on Ebay, please be extremely careful.

Is there anyone on the board good at authenticating wallets as well? I won't overwhelm anyone, but there are a couple I am looking at.

Congrats! I'm looking at an LV bag too (my first) and I'm considering the speedy 25. How do you like it?

i think the most economical 'wallet' is the checkbook cover... it is only 180 (for mono or damier) and it has slots for CCs and cash. i have another cles that i put in my bag to hold the change.

Speedy 25 info

The speedy 25 is super cute but it does slouch in the middle when you have a great deal of stuff in it. Be prepared to have to dig for items unless you have something that organizes in it. I love mine, but just a few things that annoy me about it.....

I don't like the slouching speedy look so i put my cell phone & keys in the little pouch. The only other things I keep in there is a hanging cles to hold some change, checkbook cover to hold cash & cards, and sunglasses/case. That way, my speedy doesn't slouch .

You might also want to make a cardboard basing to place at the inside bottom base of your bag. This will also help to prevent it from slouching in the middle.

That's so funny you say that. That's what I was planning to do.

Can anyone authenticate wallets though?

I personally like these two:

Porte Valeurs

Porte monnaie billettes viennois

I've already sold my porte valeurs. Planning to get a Viennois in vernis soon.

I've been using my 30 for a couple weeks. The size is great. My 25 is a bit too small some days.
