| | | If you don't want to treat your bag then keep it away from heat and sunlight. Also, wear gloves when you wear it.
Do you really want your lv bag to look pale? |

| | | Hera, could you be a bit more specific? What kind of discoloration are you talking about? And what kind of bag is that? Are you refering to the patina of the vachetta leather? |

| | Now I am confused...LOL
Naw I bought it used and it has discoloration on one little part of the bottom, I wanted to try to restore the bag( I wanted to treat it, but ONLY for restoration)
am I making any sense....the bag is in great shape , just a little part that needs attention.
I wanted to know what I can do to help that area out...and I cannot take it to a LV store because I do not live near one for them to clean it |

If it's the natural turning of colour, there isn't much you can do but can try the following: One is saddle soap, it will darken the leather altogether but will also even out the colours and get rid of some water marks. Another way is try leather cleaner like Leather CPR. It can clean some dirt mark on the leather by lightening the darkness a bit. Another way is using Mr Clean magic eraser BUT use it with extreme caution because it'll dry the leather out like crazy. I have tried it myself but I immediately put a thick layer of leather conditioner on and re-appllied everyday for 3-4 days straight (might have been even a week).
After you clean your bag, try to spray some protector. I use Wilson spray, it dries very fast and won't leave stain at all. Also if you accidentally spray Wilson on the monogram canvas, it won't do any damage. I heard good thing about Apple Guarde but I have never tried it myself. Supposedly AG takes longer to dry so don't use it just before you go out. There is also shinning money, it's a fabric and leather protector and safe to use on hnagbags.
Please do note the darkening process is inevitable with many LV's products. I think it'll add character to the bag. Some of my mom's LV's are 20 yr + with very dark handles. They all have the perfect vintage look IMO..:-) |

| | Thanks asiandiva
I'll have to save this for when it arrives I can spiff it up, before giving it to the "MOM" lol
there was also at area at the bottom( you may have to go back and look) I am horrible with purses/bags.
on the side( not on the tag) on the trim?around sides.( I am so butchering the lingo) for bags Not the canvas part.
Anyways, will the above EXCELLENT AND WELCOMED advice above work on that area too..? |

| | | Ha, I thought you guys lived in the same city and you picked up the bag already. Sorry I missed the canvas part. Try a pencil eraser on the monogram canvas, it might work or at least improve it.
ETA: I re-looked at the pics, the darkened part on the seam looks like water mark to me. Rub a little saddle soap should even it out a little. Honestly it's hardly noticable though. |

| | The darkening of the leather is inevitable. But, if you want to keep its original color on the leather, then follow Katie's advice - keep away from heat and sunlight and use gloves ;-) You may also want to not use your LV as an everyday bag and just use it sparingly and then return back into it's dust cover.
I actually don't mind my LV changing color. It's one of the distinguishable traits that shows that your LV is the real thing and not a fake . | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
