Taking Workout Supplements while on Accutane?

I know that Accutane is hard on your liver, and that if you drink alcohol (which is also hard on the liver) while on it you can die. That being said, does anyone know if it is safe to take workout supplements (NO Xplode, Vassive, creatine, nitric oxide, etc...) while on Accutane?

Well, seriously- I 'd say stay away from other cr*p like that when on accutane. Try to eat and live as healthily as possible.

I would like to know what kind of workout supplements you are talking about first.

Creatine i would stay away from for sure, but if you are wanting to take things like fish oils or omega 3 then i would say go for it. Things like L-Carnatine, Tyrosine, Glutamine and any of the other fun stuff i would stay away from. You really don't need them to be totally honest and the "supplements" that you do need you can get from other sources.

Try drinking a lot of green tea, take your fish oils, eat some pumpkin, and don't forget your water and you should be fine!

When it comes to facian cleansing, try using jojoba oil if the accutane is making you too dry. I have very oily skin (no inflamed acne but a LOT of blackheads and huge pores) and i started using jojoba to remove my makeup and it has been working great. Keeps my skin moisturized even with the BHA that i am using.

Are fish oils or omega-3 supplements really considered workout supplements in the US? Here those are just regular supplements that most people take.

BSN N.O. Explode
Bodybuilding.com - BSN NO-Xplode - New AVPT Technology! On sale now!

ON 100% Whey Protein (still taking it now, its harmless)

Well, you def. need to avoid Vitamin A while taking Accutane. Generally, most people take Accutane for a few months, can you not just avoid these products for that long? Accutane can also have an affect on bone stability, so I would be careful with extreme workout activities.

I'm on it for 6 months, and the problem with taking those supplements and then stopping all of a sudden is you lose a lot of the muscle mass that you built up, not to mention having lame workouts that dont accomplish as much. I've already lost like 8 lbs since I started Accutane, which may or may not be caused by the drug itself.

Why don't you try something besides Accutane? I can't believe that drug is actually still on the market. When you do come off of it, make sure you don't do it cold turkey. It can cause major psychological problems.

^ Believe me, I have. You dont want to know how many thousands of dollars I've spent on creams and pills and shit. My new derm is supposedly one of the best in the country so he knows what he's doing. I'm aware of the short and long-term side effects, but honestly only a handful of people have actually experienced the thoughts of suicide, etc. Even if I do get the depression, I'd rather be depressed without acne than depressed with it.

For people with severe acne Accutane can be a godsend. I hope it clears for you with minimal courses, Paraflam.

At least you did your research and know what you are dealing with! Good luck and I hope you get the results you want!

I totally agree. Though mine wasnt bad, just consistent and annoying, I have seen amazing results from people with severe cystic acne.

Ummm....

Seriously. Learn more about nutrition etc, and toss that cr*p. The marketing etc should already have you running from it as fast as you can. I stick to my recommendation of just living as healthily as possible, and add the recommendation of learning what living (and especially eating!) healthily means.

I would stay away from creatine and NO products (I believe NOxplode contains creatine ethyl-ester as well). I've read before that long term use of creatine is hard on the liver which is why most people (me included) cycle it. If your on accutane your probably better off not using those 2 types of supplements. Just stick to protein powders

How about you don't worry about what i know about "nutrition etc" (you're obviously ignorant to body building) and stay out of threads in which you don't possess the knowledge to answer the original question at hand? Thank you...... so much

ETA: Thanks jer, you actually know what you're talking about =) I was assuming just to stick to protein powder but wasn't sure. I cycle creatine also

Honey, I know a lot more about nutrition, accutane, healthy life style etc. than you obviously think. I never give my opinion on anything if I don't know what I'm talking about. My recommendations are based on knowledge, not on opinion. I always keep up with research. And I won't stop worrying if I hear a member here messing around with stuff like workout supplements, especially not when that member is on accutane.
Thank you...so much.

Just because you own an Ab Roller, Tony Horton's 10 Minute Trainer, and take One-A-Day Women's doesn't mean you know shit about body building. I noticed you're already picking arguments in another thread on the forum, looks like its time for you to shut the hell up and let the grown-ups talk... honey.

just out of curiousity....you obviously go to bb.com so why come to a jean forum and ask this question?? and then bash one of our beloved members when she give you her opinion....don't ask a question that you don't want an answer to.

Stop shoving all of those shitty supplements down your gullet and maybe your face will improve.
