Folliculitis

I have a really bad case of folliculitis. It started about 6 weeks ago when I went on vacation to the Bahamas. I wore a rented scuba BC vest and the following day I noticed a couple red bumps. The day after I got home, my chest and back were covered with red bumps.

I've been seeing a dermatologist for about 5 weeks and have tried just about everying and it hasn't gotten better. Actually, it's worse now than it was when it first started. The biopsy showed that it was folliculitis and the cultures didn't grow anything. I'm so frustrated about this. It looks bad and it's really hard to cover up because it comes up really high on my back and neck and even on my chest. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me?

is there some kind of steriod cream that the dermo can give u to make it go away??

i've gotten those from the derm before (steroid creams) and they've worked amazing but don't know if it would work in your situation

i'd wear loose fitting clothing so you don't irritate it any more

Find a new doctor! You could develop a staph infection if that gets infected.

I've tried 2 different types of topical steroids, topical anti-bacterials, and topical anti-fungals. I've also been on 3 different oral antibiotics. The thing is that it's not infedted so antibiotics aren't going to do anything. I'm going to stop all the topical stuff and see if it helps. They're aren't doing anything anyway.

I think I am going to find a new dermatologist. This one's been treating this for 5 weeks and it's not any better (it actually is worse than when I first went). It's so frustrating!

i'm just going to throw this out there since nothing else is working for you... aloe vera gel. it may help, but definitely won't do any harm

I was going to suggest the same thing. Won't hurt to try.
