I've used dark field microscopy and it's realllly cool because of the intracellular detail that it can give -- so I guess if the analysis is done by a hematologist it could give you more info, but other blood tests like checking thyroid hormone levels, iron, hematocrit, etc. are good too.
It's not recognized as an established method of diagnosis, so in the end I'd still listen to my doctor.
It could just be because of age. All sorts of changes started in my early twenties (started to retain some fat, couldn't function with less than 7h sleep, more sensitive to stuff like crappy shoes)...
I started taking multivitamins which seem to help a bit (so maybe I'm just not eating properly!)
