PMS + Weight Gain

Just curious...do you ladies gain any weight from water retention/hormones when you are PMS'ing? Im due to get mine tomorrow and I gained 3.2 lbs since Tuesday - its gotta be water retention. What do you ladies avg. gain when you PMS?

about 2 lbs. but seriously...i try my best to NOT step on the scale the week before my period or the first 2 days of my period. it is just a recipe for angst when i am already in a pissy mood.

I'm there with you girl, I had like 3 breakdowns at work today, damn hormonal mood swings. Anyway, in terms of pms weight-gain, about 2-3lbs. I don't mind it so much because I always know I will go right back to normal at the end, and I sorta look forward to the automatic weight loss/body tightening up again (since I get all mooshy when I'm pmsing).

I am SUPER bloated today for some reason. It varies. Sometimes I don't gain anything when I PMS and other times it can be up to like 4 lbs. Ugh, but today in particular I am feeling QUITE puffy. Yuck.

Scales should be banned, especially while PMS'ing or pregnant.

(I guess at perimenopause too).

I hid the scale in the back of the closet. I realize its stupid to weigh when blloated but I wanted to see how much I gain - today the bloat is worse...I feel like Dolly the Hippo. The cramps are killing me! I think I will try to workout a bit later just to get the water bloat down - or just sit in the sauna at the gym and sweat it out!

Most definitely. I always feel like I've gone up a size.

Aside from the weight gain/being bloated, the thing I notice the most now (well, now that I have been made aware of it several times by my husband) is how irritable and snappy I get. I never thought my mood changed much, but now I totally recognize what I b*tch I am. lol ... so I'm making a conscious effort to be nice.

No kidding- I really think people need to stop weighing themselves so often.
I don't even have a scale anymore. I can tell how much I weigh from the fit of my jeans though.

PMS is so depressing. Weight should be a range and not a set number...who is exactly the same weight all the time, anyway?

I don't even own a scale But I can tell when PMS is present, all my clothes fit tighter, and I fell like a hippo on land.

I gain enough to make it hard to button up my jeans while PMS-ing... and I feel like I am being emotionally hijacked by hormones. Are you on the pill? The only things that helped my PMS swings were being on the pill, or exercising at least 3 times a week. Oh yeah, and pregnancy and breastfeeding!

Don't weigh yourself so much. I only weigh myself at the gym, so at least I know I'm doing something good for myself at the same time.

Hang in there!

awww...

i don't get irritable per say, but i get pretty emotional about two days before hand (i usually end up crying over spilled milk, so to speak).

i normally weigh between 110-115 and days of pms i dont ever get on the scales but end up having to wear sweats or my "fat" jeans, and just knowing that puts me in a pissy mood and makes me self conscious, plus one time last summer one of my aunts asked me when i was gonna tell her i was pregnant when i was in a swim suit, so ya i get super bloated i couldnt do nothing but ball my eyes out.... my hunny always tells me like the week before i start that im fixin to start because he says i get moody and i am a royal bitch, i cant never tell i have mood swings untill he replayed a msg i left[damn i was mean] but i can always tell because i start wanting chocolate and i hate chocolate, and i start going to starbucks everyday.......mmmmmmm lol it must be getting close though because both sound pretty good, lol
anyone else ever crave anything?

Let me tell you - working out when you are bloated works WONDERS. i feel amazing - I dont even give a flip what fits me...I am just happy I ran 5 miles today and stretched...it made my cramps go decrease and my body "feel" lighter even if it is not (took your advice and the scale is no where to be seen at the moment hehe).

oh yeah and my Boyfriend can tell you exactly when I am getting my period - apparently as the years go on I become more and more of a royal wench around the time of my period. I was never like this in my early 20s but lately its been bad!
