Stinking blood pressure *update*

My last few dr appts, my BP has been slowly creeping up. Still not that high, I don't think, but the dr wanted me to go get bloodwork done today THAT'S fun with a 3-yr old in tow, let me tell you. I have to go back in to the dr on Thursday, and depending upon the results, they may induce me next week Dang, I want to get her out, but not like THIS! I was really looking forward to maybe going into labor on my OWN this time. Well, there's still the chance the bloodwork will be fine, I think I had the same thing done with DS, and it was fine. I've never had protein in my urine either, with either pregnancy, and I had to do a 24-hour collection with DS. I guess we'll see what happens when I go back, I can always try to start labor on my own over the weekend(nookie and such ).

I'm sorry about the highish blood pressure...that sucks. I hope your bloodwork comes back normal and you can labor naturally.

You are sooo close too!

I loved being induced. The thought of going into labor and not making it to the hospital was my worst nightmare! I can't believe you are almost there! I remember you posting about finding out it was a girl! That seems like no time ago! Good luck and hope all goes well in the next couple of weeks!

I was suppose to be induced on January 23rd at 7 a.m. - I went into labor on my own on the 23rd at 5 a.m. So you never really know!

I hope everything goes well. My SIL had to carefully monitor her blood pressure, especially at the end. It's not fun toting a LO around to all the appts. Mine is not that cooperative. I go to the dr again tomorrow for a checkout. I was induced last time, but I was late. This time I have a planned c section earlier than my due date. You are so close! It could happen at any time!!!!

Yep, that happened to me with E Number 2...I gave birth to her in the master bedroom. She was delivered by a fireman paramedic! All of about 30 minutes of labor...yep, it's true!

^ Yikes! While I do like the thought of knowing what day a baby will be born, I hated the pitocin and the contractions that came with it!

LOL, that's me as well; I made it to the hospital each time, but by mere minutes...we always lived within 5 minutes of the hospital, left at the first contraction...yep, it's scary.

We're 25 minutes from the hospital this time; thankfully there is a fire station a block away from us...we just may need it.

I have been scheduled for induction 5 times because of my fast labors...I always (like clockwork) go into labor and deliver the day before.

Wow! I hear stories all the time of not making it to the hospital. I live about 35-40 minutes from where I am delivering and if it's rush hour, it could be 2 hours!

Saw a different doc today, she wasn't really worried about it, said she doesn't dx gestational hypertension unless BP is in the 140s/90s, and mine has been in the 120s/70s & 80s. Bloodwork came back fine, etc. I told her that I'd rather let nature take its course this time if possible, she said we'll see how things are on Tuesday when I go back. She will be off the week of my EDD, which will leave them shorthanded, and that if we do have to induce, it will be better to do so next week for that reason.

120/70 or 120/80 is perfectly normal, especially in a term pregnancy. WTH?

The systolic number is the one to worry about with pre-e; as long as it is under 90...what was that other doctor thinking?

I don't know She told me that they have a "difference of opinion" on that subject So I'm thinking I should *try* to avoid seeing him now LOL

Yeah, he sounds like an alarmist. The only time even a normal blood pressure reading could be a sign of something is if your previous readings were significantly lower, then got high. Also, if you're not spilling protein in your urine, all should be well.

One mistake many nurses make is taking bp as soon as you walk in to the office. The most accurate reading is one taken at a resting rate. Did the first doctor do a repeat reading after you relaxed a bit? Only then can you actually assess high bp.

No, they didn't recheck. But I remember from being pg with DS they did that a few times. I really wish they would wait a few minutes to check! They have me go pee in the cup, weigh me(yeah, like THAT won't make the old BP go up LOL) then I go to the room while they do the urine dip, then come in and check the BP. I was SO relieved when this doc said that she wasn't worried yet. Of course, she was careful to say that it COULD go up yet. But last time, I was getting the 140s/90s at 35-ish weeks...I'm already 3 weeks past that point. I really wonder how much of it is the weight gain Despite my efforts(okay, not a great effort, really), I've still managed to gain 42# already, that HAS to put at least a BIT of strain on the old ticker and make the BP go up.

My SIL had to check her BP at home even. I don't think yours sounds that high. Some drs have such a difference of opinion. You don't have much longer regardless! I am counting down the days myself! I remember looking at my BP yesterday, but I can't remember what it was. I want to say 126/60-70ish. The nurse said it was fine and the # didn't alarm me.
