Which PILL should I use...

So I know there are tons of threads about birth control and which ones we hate ect...but I didn't see alot of types of *Pills* that people liked.
I actually had perfect skin before my wedding, then went on the pill (don't remember which one, generic I think, Cryselle) and then I was sure it made me gain weight (kind of paraniod about gaining weight) so I went off it after 4 months, skin stayed the same during the pill.
NOW when I went off the pill I developed bumps all around my chin and sides of mouth. Not black heads or red enflamed pimples, the beggingings of them. Make sense? Small flesh covered tiny bumps all filled with white yucky stuff when squeezed (sorry TMI).
SO, I've changed my skin care over the last year enough times to realise it was the pill that messed up my hormones and this is now permenant. I have an appointment with the GYNO next month so I'm going to get back on the pill(reluctantly)...
What do you guys recommend for me?
My two concerns are this; It has to be one of the pills that premotes good skin and doesn't make you gain weight(a low does then).
Let me know what you think

You can never tell which pill is going to work for you. You have to give it at least 3 months before you decide if it works for you or not. I haven't been able to find one that works for me so I just gave up on pills. Have you ever thought about getting an IUD? Or trying nuvaring? Those are options available to you as well.

My skin was perfect taking Diane 35, Alesse, and Lo-Estrin. None of those made me gain weight. I'm off the pill and having the same situation but I think it could just be the way my skin would normally be at this age - I was on the pill starting at 14 so I never had normal teenage acne.

I also took Diane 35 and Alesse. Although my skin was clear I always felt like crap. If I missed a pill on Diane 35 I would throw up (and I didn't even double up). I was always angry. It was like PMS 24/7.

I agree with geebs. Pills are tricky; what works for some women won't for others. I would try something non-hormonal. I don't get along with hormones either.

Yep, we are all different. I was fortunate to find a good pill pretty quickly-Ortho Tricyclen Lo. My face cleared up beautifully, and I only put on a few pounds, and I could easily lose them if I tried.

I still haven't really found a good one Good luck! Sometimes you just need to try a bunch of different ones.

answer to your question: dont go back on the pill.
lol

i have been on birth control since i was 16 (about 5 years) and have been on almost every single kind available (generic and name brand). each had a different side effect, some would be fine for months before it would get really bad, either way, i think my skin is acting up now just from any type of synthetic hormones, and i am sure if i went off i would lose weight. i dont have much faith in my gyno, but i have come to conclusion that the pill is more trouble than it is worth. way more. some of the side effects come on really gradually, and its hard to pinpoint what the real cause is until it gets serious

i am actually going off it in a few months. there is no way to know how you will react to any hormonal form of bcp, just pay attention to your body. sorry for the slight threadcrap, but i feel kind of strongly about this b/c of my recent experiences. 'just experimenting' until you find the right one can be very dangerous, as some can bring about very strong and dangerous side effects like depression. please be careful, you can always pm me about spec brands too (as i have personal experience with most of them )

I've been on Yasmin since I was 17 (7 years) and it's great- I have no mood swings, no acne, and no weight gain from it.

Total thread crap, but the pill being named, "Yasmin" pisses me off; it's my 5th daughter's name.

I've been on ortho tri-cyclen for about 5 years with no problems, although my periods are about a week long. My sister was on estro-step for a few years, and loved it. No bad side-effects and her periods were only 4 days. She switched to ortho tri-cyclen becasue it was so much cheaper, but will probably switch back as soon as her health insurance kicks in.

This is why I have never gotten on hormonal BC. I have heard horror stories from just about everyone I know who has used it and I hate going to the gyno because they act like there are no side effects and you are crazy if you don't take it.
I have menstural migraines and my doctor thinks BC will help, but I've read they can make them worse or you will still get them the week you are on the placebo pill. Also your risk of stroke supposedly goes up 9x if you have migraines and are on the pill. I am curious to know if it would help significantly with the migraines, though experimenting with different pills seems like a hassle to me.

^ my mom gets migraines now (horrible, debilitating, sleep all day with the curtains drawn migraines) and she only started getting them when she was on the pill. she stopped the pill years ago, and still gets them. she is positive the pill caused them in the first place, although this was back when the hormone levels were much higher. i wouldn't risk it (IMO)

and yes, the gyno's think you are a moron if you don't take it, mine told me 'there is no medical reason for you to stop, even if you think its making you depressed'. WTF?

It took ages to find a good one... four years, to be exact. I'm on Ortho Cyclen now (not tri-cyclen... it's a monophasic), and I'm pretty sane during my period, not to mention that my skin stays relatively clear all month long. I've never gotten migranes from any of the pills. The worst has been bad skin (not typical breakouts for me), horrible, HORRIBLE mood swings, and depression. I'm not on the pill for BC, but for regularity and acne.

I've been on ortho tri-cyclen for about 10 years now. I've tried other pills and the shot but switched back each time. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I went off hormonal bp. I've been on it for so long I don't even know what's a side effect and what isn't. I wonder if it's the bp that makes me so moody sometimes or if I'm just naturally bitchy!
