cyto gainer & nano vapor questions

hey... my son is using these powders and i want to know if anybody is experienced/familiar with these and are they harmful to a teen body. he is 17- he lifts weights, exercises daily and is very healthy.
he's about 6'5" and is normally very thin.
before he started using these products, he probably weighed about 128-135.
he's consuming probably 10K calories or more a day and it's bothering me.
he is normally very thin and it's bothered him for years. he's been lifting weights for some time but says that he cannot build mass being so thin
i really don't understand it all ... and i'm a little worried about adverse affects (if there are any)
any insight would help.. thanks all.

I don't know about the products you asked about but is he consuming a lot of protein in those 10K calories?

the cyto gainer says 54grams per serving.
the nano vapor..i can't find protein on the label.

now that i think about it.. i don't think he's taking the 100% whey anymore or plans on getting another Weight Gainer type powder.. i think he was experimenting different brands/types.

oh shiot.

urrmmm.. i'm not really a label reader and it never dawned on me to see how much protein he's consuming.
he basically eats anything and everything except that he's not too fond of red meat unless it's fast food.
he's been eating a can of tuna a day for added protein i guess.
he eats lots of peanuts too.

If your son sprout horns, I would tell him to stop taking supplements.

I highly doubt he is getting 10K calories per day. That would be eating 15 full meals a day. Protein powders are fine. Ricky needs more carbs for gaining weight.

well, i don't know. he's consuming almost an extra 3000 calories a day just on the cyto gain alone.
he eats constantly and since he's on this 'kick' he's eating even more.
he normally takes in over 4000 calories a day just to stay at his normal weight...
so, combined with the weight gainer.. that's already 7k.
he snacks all day long, drinks soda too.

as long as these powders don't have some freaky hidden agenda or results, i'm fine with it. i just wanted to make sure.. especially with that nano vapor, that it wouldn't hurt my son.

10K seems a bit extreme in terms of caloric consumption but he seems to be doing it the right way (added protein supplements, healthy foods like tuna) as opposed to eating doughnuts and pizza for calories. I looked up the they Cyto Gainer and the ingredients seem pretty standard amongst weight-gaining protein supplements:

Ingredients: CytoCarb II (CytoSport's unique combination of branching as well as long linear chain maltodextrins with very low "DE" (Dextrose Equivalence) providing a complex carbohydrate source approximately 96.5% sugar-free), CytoPro II (special ultrafiltered, non-denaturated, ultra high quality whey protein concentrate and pre-digested, ion-exchanged whey protein hydrosylate), Dutch processed, defatted cocoa powder, CytoVite I, vitamin and mineral premix consisting of (vitamin A acetate, cholecalciferol, d-alpha-tocopherol acetate, ascorbic acid, folate, thiamine monohydrate, riboflavin, niacinamide, pyridoxine HCL, cyanocobalamin, biotin, pantothenic acid, di-calcium phosphate, potassium iodide, electrolytic iron, magnesium oxide, copper gluconate, and zinc oxide), creatine monohydrate, cellulose gum, xanthan gum, lecithin, salt, natural and artificial flavors, potassium citrate, carageenan, chromium nicotinate, acesulfame potassium, sucralose.

Nano Vapor freaks me out...i don't really understand what it is but it reminds of that supplement "Ripped Fuel" on crack. I wish I knew more about Nano, but I have a friend of a friend who own's a supplement store and I am going to ask him about these this weekend. Don't worry! He'll be okay!

IMO....while both are good products...they are very much hyped up. Cytosport are the same ppl that make Muscle Milk that you see everywhere and Muscletech is the maker of NanoVapor. Muscletech has huge sponsorships and it not the best bang for the buck in my humble opinion and research. At his age...in all honestly...eating as much as he can and as healthy as he can (lean meats, fruits, veggies), supplemented with protein shakes and vitamins, will probably do the best for him.
I used to be 5'10" and about 120 lbs sophomore yr in college. Now im 5'10" 150lbs, but most weight gain happened within this past yr. So, I really feel where he is coming from. I am still thin and I hated being skinny.

At his age his testosterone levels are high and will support a good workout. So i'd advise him not taking anything else beyond what he is already taking. If he is serious about everything just let him know 90% of any weight and muscle gain is done in the kitchen and it does not happen over night. Its a slow but VERY gratifying experience to know the hard work you put in pays off. This is just all my opinion tho...anyone feel free to suggest other ideas.

i would really appreciate you asking your friend about the nano vapor..as that is what's freaking me out.
he doesn't take it every day, and when he does-he follows directions. soon after he takes it, he does his work out..and it's like he's got Super Powers or something. i don't like it.

He needs more time.

What kind of muscle mass he aiming for? And how skinny is he right now?

Give or take 1-2 years+, then he'll start seeing some results.

Nano vapor is a nitric oxide donor and other things, which i am not sure what they are. if you tell me what the ingredients are, i can let you know. btwn, nitric oxide is a vasodilator, which means it lowers blood pressure. it can also be used to speed up the growth of solid tumors.

Did not think about that.
That'll be a problem too.

I know guys who are just like your son and either stayed slim or got huge.

Only time can tell.

if he is eating about 5000 calories and every 3 hours at the most, combined with weight lifting..... he will be gaining mass. regardless of his metabolism, if he isnt gaining, he's doing something wrong. in my experience, these kids say that are eating a ton, but for example, will have a huge breakfast and then go to school and not eat for the next 6 hours.

nola, i'd watch the tuna consumption b/c of the mercury. someone his weight should eat no more than one to three cans of chunk-light tuna per week, or one-third to one can of solid-light or white tuna per week.

no no.. i never said 120 pounds, did i? if i did, i was incorrect.

i would say that for the past few years, he's been toggling between 128-135...which is very thin for his height.
but, since he's started this whole deal..he's gained weight.
i would say that for the past year, he's been seriously trying to gain weight.
only the last couple of months has he decided to take supplements to help him do so.
he does look more muscular, there doesn't seem to be an ounce of fat on him.
i just asked him to go weight himself -- 155 (that seems like a lot for him)
he says he wants to get to 190

sorry I must have misread the post and I read it as 120lbs. My apologies.
Wow - he gained a good amount - 190 would be great for him!

I don't think the Nano stuff is any good, however.

I've been there my dear and it's not worth it! If he wants to bulk up have him eat real food! Clean food such as chicken breast, turkey, fish, lean beef, eggs, eggbeaters, veggies, brown rice, wheat bread, etc..... Also, have him take some multi vitamins. And please remind him gaining muscles doesn't happen overnight. This seems to be the biggest mistake for beginners, they don't see any results and they just give up on it. He will need to be consistent with his work out program and eating habit. And lastly, tell him BODYBUILDING REQUIRES A LOT OF PATIENCE!!!!
