Allergies/virus/infection - What IS it!!??

How do you tell the difference between sinus ailments? I've had this stuffy head, but clear nose issue for about a week now and it's driving me crazy. LOTS of drainage (and the resulting scratchy throat), but I can breathe fine. Sneezing, hardly anything when I blow my nose, but it's clear if there is some (sorry, TMI). A few sinus headaches, which I rarely get. I don't have a history of getting bad allergies.

I would think this was allergies, but the weird thing is that my DH had it about a week before me ( and still does), so it kinda seems like I "caught" it from him...

Anybody know how to tell and what I can take? We're going to St. Martin in 10 days for my birthday and I do NOT want to be sick!!!!!! Help!!

I have the same. For me I think (hope!!) it's a virus infection, I tend to get these.
Virus infections can last for weeks.

Well, that makes sense....I'm leaning towards not allergies. It's been really rainy here lately - wouldn't that make allergies ease up?

Have you found anything that helps with symptoms? Sudafed doesn't do much for me

I've had the same thing. I thought it was just allergies at first but I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection. My ears are plugged & one side of my face hurts when there is any pressure. Oh, & my headaches are major......& everyday!! I don't take anything for it as I'm sure it'll just pass sooner or later.

I hope you feel better in time for your vacation!! I hate being sick.

A netipot used three times a day helps a lot for me.

Most sinus stuff starts from allergies. You need to see a doctor. I have all the same issues, all stemming from allergies, and will be making an appointment with my ENT today. I know I have an ear infection and I know its bacterial. When the sinus drainage gets into your ear canal's it can build up bacteria. You probably need an antibiotic.

EDIT TO ADD: The rain makes my allergies worse as it stirs up all the pollen, etc. on the ground.

^ Yep, same here. Also, if you're allergic to mold, rain will make allergies act up too. I'm allergic to everything.

I have constant headaches with rain.

Zyrtec is now over the counter, I take that along with prescription Nasonex. My allergies started much earlier this year - I hope you find some relief!!

Make sure nobody's watching when you use it.

I think I might have the same thing as well.

And my room mate just came back over the weekend and he seems to caught some thing as well.

Maybe a bad virus going around

Seems to be pretty widespread as well since I'm from southern California and it seems like Jenn is from Germany.
