Pyruvate - anyone else use it for weight loss?

I was recently lassoed (sp?) in by my trainer at 24 hour to take supplements in aiding my weight-loss endeavors. Now I've tryed the gamut - from Metabolife to Slimquick and they NEVER work and I don't believe in them. However, I started taking about 6-7grams of Pyruvate/day and after the research I have done I have noticed a bit of weight loss. I am not sure if this is simply becuase I have amped up my workouts and I am "trying" to eat better/well...but after the research I have read I think there is cause to believe Pyruvate in addition to exercise and a low-calorie diet, will aid in shedding poundage.

So...my question is...Does anyone else take Pyruvate? If so/If not, what are your opinions, reactions, insight on this?

Your body produces Pyruvate naturally...but additional Pyruvate is supposed to help the Kreb Cycle and extend your insulin levels so you are burning calories more efficiently throughout the day.

I am currently using Apex Fat Burn 2 - Expenditure (Pyruvate).

I try to stay away from dietary pills just to be safe. I don't know if there is anyway to modulate how your body burns calories.

^i agree with vis. i also try to stay away from supplements. i think your body gets used to them and then they stop being effective, or when you stop using them, your body just goes back to it's natural regulation process.

i try to stick to eating well and following the tried and true formula of calories in/calories out.

I agree calories in v.calories out and after adding weight lifting to my regimen...I believe weight lifting is ESSENTIAL in ultimately shedding weight and becoming smaller. Sigh...Im even leaning towards more weight lifting that cardio becuase of the results i have seen thus far.

Every once and awhile I dread going to the gym. But I always remember how I feel afterwards, and I always go.

I always feel great after lifting.

I feel better after lifting lately than I do after cardio! That's rare for me!

My body type builds muscle rather easily so i am afraid of looking bulky but one girl actually said to me Weds night, "damn I wish I had your calves, I have chicken legs"
Ironic because I was totally admiring how slender her legs were! The grass is always greener...jsut gotta keep focused and remain on course with my nutrition - which is the hardest part for me, hands down.

Okay, I have to correct you on this. Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. Muscle is denser so it take less space...

A pound = A pound

I had a trainer last year (24-Hour fitness) and recommended the FatBurn 2. I took it for 3 months and dropped 5% body fat without going on a strict diet. I just didn't want to continue to take it so now I watch why I eat...

Like you Bluefeevah, I want to get into shape too. I've tried Lipo 6 but as soon as I went to two doses a day for some reason I would get really cold and start shaking like I was nervous, it got to the point where I felt lightheaded, needless to say I quit taking it. I actually dislike lifting weights for some reason and I would prefer to do cardio. I'm not a member of a gym so I guess thats why I do not bother with weights. When I go to the gym on base I tried to lift weights but there are never any women in there so I get intimidated by the guys and leave.
