A lil help...?

I cn barely type this.. I woke up and felt too tired to get up (normal for me) so i ate some cheerios..the honet nut.. I usually have a handful or 2 for brekkie but im trying to increase my calories so i have about 2 to 4.. (no milk-i dont drink milk-i eat out of the box) Right afterwards i got even more tired and now i can barely think, type or move.. I tried to force myself to get up and sit at the compputer but had to go straight back to bed and use my laptop to type.. My eyes are half closed and i feel so so so weakened.. Im sure, positive this is like a blood sugar deal but am a little confused.. I had HONEY cheerios so i know i had sugar but im not a big sugar eater (i eat sugarfree stevia substitute-natural but sugar free) and the only sugar i get is from grapes during the day so im thinking maybe i just had a big hit of sugar and my bodies freaking out? Please note im well aware of my eating habits and im in recovery trying to...recover and eat better. Right now my husbands at work and im a lil scared.. Im never usally THIS weak.. What should i do/eat to fix this? Any ideas? <3

Do you have any gatorade type drink? Normally, you lose a lot of water during the night. Since you haven't really drank anything with your morning cheerios, it sounds like your body is dehydrated. You should try to get some fluids in you. Electrolyte imbalance can cause your type of symptoms. Get something to drink, ok?

I get like that if I have straight up simple carbs with no protein, esp. first thing in the morning. Having a bit of protein/fat might help, like some peanut butter (if that's safe for you), or an egg?
Also some water might help...

Call your husband, let him know how you are feeling. Get some protein in you, sweetie. All you ate today was simple carbs and sugar...you need some protein to balance out right now and get your motor running. Drink at least 8 oz water (I would have room temp right water right now) - and take your pulse. Just be sure its not too slow - Normal heart rate is about 60-80 beats per minute (bpm) but rises with age. Just take some deep breaths and get some oxygen to the heart and lungs.

Can you get into that doc any sooner? like tomorrow? tell him you are fearful of your symptoms escalating? If you need anything - I know I dont know you but I'll be in San Diego this entire weekend!!!

i have hypoglycemia as well, it sucks but you have to eat something, that is the only way to balance your sugars back out. even if it's just a couple bites.

I also have hypoglycemia. It's not so much that I get weak as I want to rip someones head off. Not eating makes me angry & I can't control it.

You definitely need protein. I keep protein bars handy just for instances like this. I keep them in my car, diaper bag, etc. It really gets bad if my blood sugar gets to low.

Hope you feel better!!

^ sweetie - call your hubby and have him take you to the hospital or at least a walk-in clinic. We all care about you and want you well - health is not something worth taking a gamble with - Go in as soon as ya can and have it checked out so you can have piece of mind.

Zee, I hope you are getting the help you need; you definitely need protein to balance out that sugar intake.

Hugs, take care, and keep us posted.

Hey Zee!

You need to keep yourself properly hydrated, and eat something with protein it in like the other posters have mentioned.

Have you tried aking yourself a protein shake? There are some supplements on the market that taste really good. I use Horleys and Musashi powders in either chocolate or vanilla.

The chocolate one tastes even better when you buzz it in the blender with a banana and I'm sure you could use soy milk as a substitute for skim milk. The vanilla one goes super yum when you throw in a banana and a handful of mixed berries. Better than any smoothie you can buy!

Remember what I said about 1g of protein for every kilo of bodyweight?

Also, try switching from grapes to another fruit that your body will take longer to digest, like bananas or apples.

There's a breakfast cereal called Oats and More (I think) and it's basically porridge oats with added protein supplements. It comes in a big tub, and I'll look up the name and get back to you, because that would be a lot better for you than the Cheerios (you're almost better off eating the box they come in!) I think they're made by an Australian comany but I'm sure they sell then in the US. Because they're not super refined your body will process them more slowly and have a gentler effect on your blood sugar levels.

I'm here to help, feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions. I have a PT client at the moment who has hypoglycaemia and I've given him almost the same advice.
