My stomach *pictures* ...advice? :)

..So as alot of you know i am in recovery from an 11 year eating disorder and i am TRYING to work through a plan where i am increasing my calories (verrrrrrry slowly) and working out 3 days with a trainer and 3 days without (working out on my own..following tips and advice and cardio)...I lost 65 pounds in a short amount of time prior to this so i shrunk but i have a soft tummy now because its all just skin I am trying to tone it up and working hard on it. Its been a while now and i THINK i see a little difference. I know in my case it will be hard to gain muscle if i dont eat nearly enough and struggle to maintain my weight but i am working super hard and trying my very best.. This is where i am at right now so i hope to post pictures in the future and use these photos as a mid point! I am actually really embarrased posting these as i always feel like i have rolls I know my stomach isnt huge but in the 3rd pic you can see the pouch that upsets me all the time.. I do leg lifts, i use the half moon ball (which is wonderful) ad ab machine ccccccrunches etc.. I want the soft flubber bit on my lower tummmy to go away but im being told constantly that only surgury will fix that and i am not into that. I like to work hard for results ;) ..Any excersizes that work wonders for the lower squidge? Do you see any muscle in my tummy or am i fooling myself? :/ Im trying to work hard to turn my stomach into something strong and ...beautiful? as opposed to starving it to ugly.. It sounds silly, i know, but it is actually a HUGE step for me to want to TRY to take care of my body than destroy it.. xoxox

I'm sorry, but I most definetly do not see what you are talking about. You look great. I can understand wanting to tone up.....who doesn't? But, you have no tummy "pouch" to lose at all.

EDIT: After reading everyone's posts through page 3, I realize that I should have not said the above. I guess like Rae, I was trying to say that you look good (b/c you are on the road to recovery). I did not realize that I would be encouraging the ED behavior. I am sorry for this and totally agree with everyone that the pictures above are not of a healthy woman. Zee does have a wonderful spirit and I would never want to see it crushed. Please get well!

i pray, and i mean-i pray hard, that you will recover from this. you are such a beautifully spirited gal-you need to get healthy.

Zee, you have absolutly NO fat on you. Gosh i feel like a monster next to you, LOL!!! Like Nola said, you are beautiful in body and spirit. IMO i think you do enough excercise and don't need anymore. Eating healthy will help you maintain a good weight. Don't worry about the calories. Eat as much healthy foods as you can. Lots of fish, tofu , fruits & veggies. I read avocados and almonds help when you feel bloated....but.....your not bloated and you have no buldge or belly at all. I love you as a friend and will pray for you. You need to know you are beautiful and feel good about yourself

Nola is totally right. There's nothing there, it's just what's NOT above it. I know what you are talking about because even though i weigh like next to nothing too, i see this same thing sometimes when i weigh LESS, like if i've been sick. It's like the less i weigh, the more concentrated into that area i seem to be. Once your whole body has evened out you will see you really do NOT have a pooch there. Keep working on those upper abs and increasing your calories to build everything up evenly there and you will see

Oh Zee- I know the struggle is hard. I'm here for you, even if it's just to vent! I understand that you "see" what we can't, and that's going to be the hardest part to overcome. But in all honesty; body, mind, and spirit you are beautiful and I just wish you love and hugs for stay on the good path you are on now and that you stay healthy and strong. You are beautiful.

I agree with nola and pam. The exact same thing happens to me if i get sick or stop eating for whatever reason, in the same spot. When I put the weight back on, it goes away, because the rest fills out.

That being said, I'm very happy for the positive steps you are taking. I know it's hard, but you have the power to do it

don't regret it at all! it may be a distored view, but it's yours and people have to understand where it comes from and what is behind it.

i think even posting the pictures of yourself is a major step, especially if you feel poorly about yourself.

It shows just how far in your recovery you have come along! You might have a bit of a ways to go but you can look back and see all the progress you've made!

I could not have said it better than the others in this thread.

I agree with Pam too; if I have been ill and lose weight, it does seem like a little pouch shows up; your organs have to be somewhere.

You look great, and I hope you are able to accept your beautiful figure for what it is; you have taken tremendous steps already. You are one gorgeous lady; please don't think otherwise.

What she said. You are amazing, Zee. This is hard work, but worth it. Some day you will look back at these pictures and be astounded that at how differently you perceive them.

edit: Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear before. Zee I see nothing wrong with the "pudge", I'm not even completely sure I see one. However, it's beautiful the way it is (the "pudge") and it'll be much more beautiful when you can fill the top part out. I'm pretty sure you haven't been able to make it go away cause it's supposed to be there :\

First off, good for you for trying as hard as you are to eat more calories and get into healthy shape! I'm proud of you!

That being said, I understand what you're talking about. I DON'T think that you're fat, or that there's any pudge there whatsoever, but I have the same bulge-ish thing in my lower stomach, and no matter how hard I suck it in, or how much weight I drop (if I'm sick), it's still always there - organs have to sit somewhere! So while I do understand what you're talking about, it isn't something that I think will ever go away. Once you put a little bit of weight on on top (and keep toning) you won't notice it as much.

Seriously, though, I just want to end this by telling you how amazing it is that you're fighting this hard - good for you, and keep up the fight!!!

Zee, I agree with Nola, Idalis and everyone else. Once your body evens out, you'll notice that this "pouch" is nothing at all. Yes, organs gots to have a place to be.

I'm so very proud of you! Keep up the caloric increase and healthy lifestyle. You've made great progress and don't be embarrassed, you're so beautiful already (I can think of no one that radiates more) and you'll become even more so, as you progress with overcoming this all. Stay strong and keep well.

I agree w/ everyone who posted before me, and I just want to add this...

My only suggestion would be to try to focus on the positives. For instance, in the 3rd pic you said the "pouch" upsets you, so rather than focus on that area, look above your navel and focus on the muscle definition that you are creating!

I commend you for being brave enough to continue to fight and also to share with us.

I agree with Nola too. You have no fat on you whatsoever and the bottom of your belly is beautiful! You just need to concentrate on making the top half even out.
Eat high protein food.... that's what converts into muscle. You're nearly there, keep up the great work I really admire your strength

hips...you loook great and there is NO fat and NO need to try to lose whatever you may think is fat. Just take in a lot of protein and quality calories. I am a true believer that in any diet and workout plan...85% of your goals happens in the kitchen. Many ppl believe to lose weight you must eat less, etc. but much has to do with what you and and the quality of those foods.....oh yah did i say you look great!?...good luck with your diet and workout...as long as u work hard and eat right...ur gonna turn out awesome....i know for a fact...i am 5'10" and weigh 150. Even tho id like work out and gain more muscle and weight....looking back i used to weigh 120.

Zee,

You have great abs. Period. You can easily add a few pounds to the ol' mid section.
