Cramps...any natural remedies??

So i have had these really SEVERE cramps ever since i first got my period at like 13-14. they come like clockwork every month and are always really bad...i usually take advil or something like that every 4 hours to ease the pain but i know that there is a risk of like stomach bleeding and stuff like that associated with those medicines. i was hoping i could find some natural remedies that dont have all those chemicals in it that would make the pain better. does anyone know of any that have worked for them?? BTW i dont have endometriosis (sp?) or anything that would indicate something is wrong down there...just really bad cramps every month TIA!

Exercising helps a lot. Doing it consistently all times of the month is important, but even once the cramps hit, it can make them go away at least for a bit.

I think that cutting down on dairy helps but this is just my experience. I used to have awful cramps when I was younger, then I went on the pill for years. I just went off and I am amazed that I no longer have cramps, and only did one time after eating more dairy. This is based on only a few months, but it is worth a try.

have you talked to your doc? maybe he/she can prescribe something stronger that won't irritate your stomach...or else you could take it into your own hands...i'd recommend bacardi 151

Nothing natural helps my cramps once they hit except a heating pad...but I need advil, too.
Things that help before the fact- regular exercise, no alcohol the week before my period, high fiber, calcium supplements (taken every day), lots of sleep.
Once they hit, running seems to help them not get worse, but without drugs I'm kind of useless.

Heating pad, iron supplements, potassium supplements, etc.
What do you call cheese that isn't yours?

I havn't had major cramps since I've gotten on the Pill, but I hear drinking water and excercising helps. Since I barely did either, I usually sleep a lot to not have to think or feel the pain. If time is not on your side, a heating pad works too! I hope you feel better every month

My wife has really bad cramps and I adjust her lower back and the cramping goes away for the most part.

Exercising helps because the endorphins help you feel better. Sex works the same way! If you don't have a partner, get yourself a little battery operated Japanese friend. If that doesn`t work for you, well, at least you`ll be distracted for a while!

It's not exactly natural, but... I used to get horribly bad cramps that rendered me non-functional. I tried everything you can think of, and the thing that worked best for me was an antacid medication called BromoSeltzer. I haven't seen it in drugstores for decades, but it is still made and it's non-prescription. It's basically acetaminophen, soda and salicylic acid. That shit works like a charm on cramps. I got to where I actually enjoyed the taste.

When I had bad menstrual cramps, I took evening primrose oil capsules. They seem to have helped but I also thought my periods lasted longer so I stopped.
