IUD question...concerns :(

I am sorry if this is too much information, but I am quite concerned now.

I have had an IUD in place since 5 weeks after my youngest was born. So it has been 2 1/2 yrs. I have been on time every single month since and I have been able to count on getting "it" on the 9-10th of the month.

WELL...Here it is the 14th and there are no signs of "IT"... I took a pregnancy test yesterday, came back negative...

1. Could it be too soon to take a pregnancy test?
2. Is it unusual that after 2.5 yrs of being on time that all of a sudden it is late?
3. Could the fact that I have been working out for a month now, lost 7 lbs and lost several inches factor in to why I'm late?

I'm just very concerned. I just feel like this is not right Any advice, experience will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Go get checked up immediately.

My got an IUD after I had a baby as well and I was the WTF when I started throwing up all of a sudden. Of course I had gotten pregnant and the IUD not inserted properly. Apparently it was almost on it's way out and my gyn couldn't understand how I didn't feel it. I couldn't feel a thing.

Since getting pregnant while having and IUD means high risks I would definitely go get checked up to see that it's properly inserted. They can check with ultra sound.

Could it just randomly get displaced? I haven't had any issues for 2 1/2 yrs

Wow, yes it can become dislodged. Call the ob immediately. Exercise can stop the period as well. That is my guess.

Wow, I just read my first post and I was in a hurry and rewrote it but apparently forgot to change some words. I take it you still understood most of it.

But as the others have said, yes it can get displaced even after a long time. You should check it up asap.

Definitely get checked, but starting a new exercise program, especially if you've already lost weight, can throw "it" off at first. I lost 20 lbs last year and it took a little while for stuff to get back to normal.

Go get it checked out asap.

btw, for those of you with Mirena do you get any side effects with it like the pill since it has hormones?

The only hormone that Mirena has is levonorgestre and very little of it. It has No Estrogen..thats the good thing about it.

I cant do estrogen there are waaay to many side effects that I could not deal with.
Mostly all birth control pills have estrogen..the only one that did not was the mini pill which is what nursing moms use..they have levonorgestre like mirena...and NO estrogen.

I posted in the other thread about the paraguard(I think) coil-I had a mirena and it came out (so the docs say-I'm still not convinced) and I never felt a thing-if you have lost weight I would say it is definitely a possibility.
