help with keloid PLEASE!

i posted something a while back bout how to treat a keloid. i did go see my local derm & got it injected last week. the keloid seem like it was going down, but not gone, but just smaller, well yesterday i noticed it started to get big?? like bigger than it ever was before??? now it's more red & the keloid seems like its filled up with something inside? maybe blood or puss? i've had my piercing for a while now & the keloid formed a while back too, but it never bothered me much & now that i have insurance i decided to get it treated with injections. anyways, my keloid was just a lil bump before & it was the same color as my skin tone, basically just scar tissue i guess around the piercing, but now it looks like a big red zit where the piercing is. it wouldn't bother me much of it was somewhere you couldn't see well, but its on my nose. i don't believe its infected cause it doesn't hurt or sore, but its just ugly as hell. do you think the injection made it worse? is that possible? i thought it was suppose to made the keloid go away, not make it BIGGER! anyone have the same exprience? i'm going to try to make an appointment tomorrow, but i highly doubt he can get me in cause last time i made the appointment with him, it took 3 weeks before i could even get in. thanks! any advise or help is MUCH appreciated!

I've heard that crushed-up aspirin mixed with water to form a paste, is helpful for keloids, although it seems like that would irritate the piercing. It almost sounds like you're describing a hypertrophic scar, which is a little different. I would say, try soaking it with warm salt water and it'll probably drain on its own.

Hmm I have no idea why that happend, or what to do. However I know that my best friend had a small keloid on her nose piercing, and she ignored it and almost over night it got like 3x bigger and noticable. Her doctor made sure there was no infection and had her take it out to heal, and said she could repierce it and it shouldn't happen again. So she did, and after a while the same thing happend even though it was in a slgihtly different place...I just thought I would mention this, in case you end up doing the same thinking it won't happen again, to not get your hopes up too much. I went w/ her both times to the piercer and the second time he said people are just prone to them and once you get it, it is likely to re-occur even with a new piercing

Okay so I'm a nurse who keloids too First let me say that I totally feel your pain. I hate to brake the news to you...but if your skin keloids you will ALWAYS get keloids and you should probably take the piercing out. The keloid will never go away totally with steroid injections, but it should get better. Sometimes the injection is a little irritating, but that redness goes away. The keloid will eventually change to be the same color of your skin, but bad keloids take months/years before the redness disappears (your nose shouldn't take that long). You have to stay out of the sun completely until the skin is totally healed, which could take 4 or 5 months. Ask your doc what kind of ointment to put on before you try anything. Keloids are very tricky to deal with, especially bad ones. The more taut the skin is around a cut (or piercing), the more prone it will be to keloids...hence the problem with nose piercings. If you want your nose pierced again, have your derm/plastic surgeon do it. There are a couple of over the counter silicone gel pads you can buy that help a little, but not to be worn in public lol. I think neosporin makes one

I believe this is an old wives tale. The sal. acid content is no where near high enough to be effective. (check with Kate too.)

And it's most likely not a Keloid like Annie said. Those are more rare.

^ it works for pimples, i've heard and bug bites. but not this lol.

can you please post a pic? it's hard to give advice without actually seeing it, but if it's what i'm thinking it is, it is not a keloid.

If it almost looks like a blood blister but not as dark, I've had them on piercings before, and honestly I can't think of what I did to make them go away. All I know is I didn't pop them, so it's not like a zit! (Ew, I just grossed myself out)

I’ve tried the crushed aspirin & the sea salt method & those both did absolutely nothing for me. Normally the injections work for me. The Dr injected it twice & I remembered @ some point when the keloid was hardly even raised or noticeable. But somewhere down the line it came back. I’ve thought of taking it out & having it repierced again but I’ve also heard it comes back in most cases cause some peeps are just prone to keloids from piercings. I think I’m one of those people. I’ve had the piercing for about 5yrs now & the keloid just formed about 2 yrs into the piercing. Is it something I did to make it form? i will try to take a pic of it when I get home later, see @ your own risk- its UGLY! Thanks for all your help & suggestions ladies.

It sounds like you're talking about a hypertrophic scar, which usually happens when there is unwanted pressure on the piercing from either bad placement or badly-fitting jewelry. So, I don't know what to tell you, I'm not actually sure what would happen if you were to take the piercing out, but I don't know if it would necessarily solve your problem. I was googling around and found this page:
Keloids and Hypertrophic Scars You can get a pretty good idea of the difference there.
