Supposed to help acne from what I have heard. Some people swear by it and others not so much.

It's acetylsalicylic acid. Salicylic acid (BHA) is more effective, and has no safety issues. Acetylsalicylic as a topical is not well researched, but some study indicates that it miiiight decrease collagen production if used regularly. So I'd say use a BHA instead, which is perfectly safe and more effective anyway.

Check out for reviews.

I read somewhere that the acetylsalicylic acid has no effect. I think that it is "effective" because of its exfoliating properties.
I'm on the library computer and it is being dumb, blocking me from the website with the info. When I get home I'll look it up again.

If you do it, and love it, make sure you only use it 2 times a week. Exfoliating too much will damage your skin

I use Tend Skin for razor bumps, ingrown hairs, etc...and it has acetylsalicylic acid in it. If I use it regularly it works great keeping all those yucky shaving downfalls away. I have read that you can just use a salicyclic acid too though.

Without g oing into the biochemical properties of asprin too much the difference between acetylsalisylic acid and just plain 'ol BHA is the acetyl part.

Basically by adding the acetyl to salicylic, it makes it easier for salysilic acid to cross the blood-brain barrier. Thus it really will not have an affect topically.

But as jenn mentioned there is very little research on the topical use of asprin.

I would suggest just using BHA. With the asprin mask, you wash it off after 20 minutes or so. With BHA you leave it on...which is most important as you need the skin to absorb it in order for it to exfoliate the pores.
