I'm tired......

I dont know what is wrong with me! For the past week I have been exceptionally tired. I feel completely drained doing the smallest tasks. I have not changed anything like sleep, diet, excersise, meds. I am not pregnant, or at least late yet (I will know that by the end of the month). I wonder if it is worth a trip to the Dr? Any thoughts?

could be lots of things, but most likely you are anemic. you should go to the doctor and he will prescribe you iron, if indeed he does find that you are anemic.

I was anemic once before, but I had a huge blood loss that caused that. What else would cause that?

I thinks some people just are more prone to it? I don't know, I am borderline anemic and my mom is anemic as well. You can try taking iron and see if it helps?

Could either be a dietary deficiency in iron, vitamin B12 or folate. Or, could be that you have developed a reduced ability for intestinal absorption of any of the above three, usually vitamin B12.

There are other causes of anemia as well that are a side effect of certain chronic diseases. But this is less likely. Also less likely that your problem isn't anemia at all, but is a thyroid disorder.

Let me add that I am on antidepressants. Since we had a stillborn baby 3 years ago I have had major problems with anxiety. After we had our our
son, Kegan I stuggled with some depression so I was put back on meds. I have been taking them for about 8 months which has been successful. I do remember that at first I was extremely tired and so she changed my meds to be taken at night and the tiredness went away.

I am only human and it scares me to think there might be something wrong with me.

Sorry, maybe I scared you a bit! I didn't mean to say it's possible that it could be something serious, and so you should be concerned. I think it's something like 1 in 5 women that are anemic, so I would assume that is what it is.

It could also be from the depression, or even from the meds though, too!

Oh, no, it is ok. You did not scare me. I wouldnt be asking here of all places if I wasnt concerned. I just hate going to the Dr, especially when it turns out to be nothing. I am going to wait another week and see if I get my enery back.

It's probably from your medication. Anti-anxiety pills are known to slow you down, as are some types of anti-depressants. Ask your doctor about it. I switched from Celexa to Wellbutrin because of how it made me so tired, and now my Wellbutrin gives me more energy! Such a big difference

It could be soooo many different things, or a combo of things. If it just pops up from nowhere you may have picked up a virus or something, even if you dont really have other symptoms. Its a good idea to wait for a little while to see your physician, unless you feel there is something wrong (other than fatigue). If it persists, see your doc. Its not really a good idea to try vit/ supplements without knowledge of what is wrong (esspecially if you're on meds that could interact/ trying to get pregnant, etc.) hope you're feeling better!
