Piercings?

Ummm...anyone have their nipples pierced? I'm considering it, and have read some on the web, but want to know about pain/healing time, etc. You can pm me if you don't want to discuss here.

I had both of mine done...had them in for about 5 or 7 years. I took them out once I met Sam and knew I would want babies in the near future I wanted to make sure that they wouldn't interfere with nursing. Well, they have been out for over 5 years and I bet I could probably get a piercing through if I wanted too...smaller, but the holes are there on both sides.

I thought my navel hurt worse...but having both piercings and tattoos, I know that "pain" is different for different people and different parts of their body.

Honestly, it didn't do anything for me If anything, I feel like I lost sensation

I hate to hijack, but Jennifer, having had piercings, tattoos and kids, on a pain scale, did the navel hurt A LOT compared to the other stuff? I have 5 tattoos and have had 2 kids (although I did have epidurals) and I want to get my navel pierced but am skeered of the pain.

I actually enjoyed my nipple piercings It hurt, but the endorphine rush was pleasurable. The only piercing that I've had that really ever hurt relentlesssly was my Pinna piercing. But with all my other piercings, they have hurt initially, but were very tolerable afterward.

FYI my nipples were not sensitive prior to having been pierced. For whatever reason they are now after breastfeeding.

Well, I have a tattoo and other piercings, so the initial pain isn't much of an issue for me...it will only last a second.

I am actually more concerned with how long I have to wait before they will be ready for action again.

LOL! I can't remember but maybe 2-3 weeks, I'm sure a piercer would let you know when you are ready for action

Congrats! You'll love 'em. Mine are my favorite piercings. Just be careful in the shower...I won't go in to details, but I really don't suggest using a loofah to clean your front.
If you have any healing or aftercare questions, let me know. I'm sort of a piercing expert I have an online piercing guide with almost half a million hits and a few thousand users.

I don't think you can view it unless you're a Soompi member, but give it a shot!

I miss mine a lot. I've had both of mine done several times but my body does not like piercings I finally gave up on mine because I kept developing hypertrophic scars at the piercing site. It didn't take long for them to heal up though... a few weeks and they were back in action I don't remember the actual piercings hurting but it was a long time ago.

Be careful drying off when you get out of the shower too. Loopy towels and barbells do not mix!

Yeah, the actual piercing didn't hurt, but god was I driving myself crazy all morning with anticipation of it. They are a bit sore this evening, but not too bad for what I've done.

That was the only piercing I have done that hurt. Mine got infected a lot.
I got it ripped out a couple years ago when it got caught on a ledge at a bar.

Late pass here. I had mine done and miss them too. I took them out so I could breastfeed (7 years ago now) and have never had them re-done. Mine were pretty painful to get done but not as painful as other piercings that I had had done. I think I had like 27 or 28 piercings at one point. Out of everything I had done, my nostril was the most painful. And I had some pretty crazy piercings.

It wasn't as bad as you might think. It was just messy.

Security was being pissy with me when I told them I would need to go in and out (to go to the corner store to get a band-aid). Then I lifted my shirt and the bitch quickly stfu.

The thought of breastfeeding makes my nipples cringe! I mean, especially when they start teething

That's funny... I think my nostril hurt the most too. I think I made it up to 18 or so piercings and most of them were fairly painless.

I always have to make myself nervous for a piercing, it hurts way less than when I am calm I guess the adrenaline when I'm nervous helps with the pain. My industrial was the only thing I wasn't "nervous" for and it hurt like HELL. Maybe it was because I was punching two 16g holes into one ear though

I love this thread, nipple piercings are fascinating because it's always the people you'd least suspect! I don't think I have the balls to get it done (my sister ripped hers out during a loofah-ing so I'm scurred of that happening), but I think it looks awesome!

edit: I've only had a few piercings - navel, tongue, nose - all out now except the navel which I might have to remove soon (input from moms who have had navel piercings?) and the most painful of all was I don't even know what the technical name for it is but the cartilage part of my ear closest to my face...I have to google and find out what it's called. Mine was so thick the piercer was shaking trying to push the needle through, and then POP! it was awful!

edit 2: tragus. soooo painful.

I was going to get an industrial, but the one side hurt so bad I didn't get the other. Go figure though, I could handle both nipples. So weird. I may go back for the other part of the industrial now that the first cartilage finally healed. It took about a year.

Yeah, my cartilage piercings took FOREVER to heal. I think punching through skin vs cartilage is much better on the body though...I forgot I had lobe piercings about 2 or 3 hours after I had them done. I love my industrial, you should go back and get it finished
