Electronic Cigarette

I don't know if this is allowed or not .. but any smokers here tried the electronic cigarette ?

I'm asking because my boyfriend has been using his for the past 5 months now and he honestly sees himself beating his nicotine habit .. He started on high nicotine and now is "vaping" low nicotine .

When we first started dating about 2 years ago , I asked him to quit smoking which he did cold turkey for about a year and then as soon as he started his job , the stress level got to him and he started smoking again. He then did research and stumbled across the electronic cigarette and thankfully it has helped tremendously .

There's no smoke (no second hand smoke ) , smell , ash , 4,000+ toxins ect BUT it stimulates the look and feel of a real cigarette (his oral fixation is his weakness) ! So I am very pleased with it and that is why I am supporting the electronic cigarette . There are many to be found on the web , but his favorite is from Vapors Delight Electronic Cigarette Intellicig EVOlution E Cig .

If you're a smoker and you have loved ones .. you should check out this alternative ... even if you don't plan on quitting

If you have any questions about it just ask and I'll have him answer it from his perspective

Mods , if this is totally against the rules .. please lock it . Thanks !

My aunt just stopped by last night and she was "smoking" one of those electronic cigarettes. She said so far she was 9 days smoke free which is pretty good for a lady who has smoked for 40+ years.

I've seen that at the mall in the States. I was thinking about giving it a shot...but, I haven't seen it in Canada. I'm moving to the States in 3 weeks and I will definatly add it to my list of possible stop smoking aids.

Thanks, I was really wondering about this product and would prefer someones opinion that is not trying to sell me one.

my bf just saw an advertisement for blu vaporized cigarette...i had never heard about them before, but i did some research and it sounded like a really good idea. anything to get that nasty smoke smell off of him. h20, did your bf try the blu? it is a 3 week waiting list and I was hoping to find something that could ship out sooner.

Jetta , have your bf check out e-cigaretteforum.com to read personal reviews about the blu and many other brands . My bf tried the DSE 901 and now he exclusively smokes the Intellicig EVO . There is an ecig for everyone depending on their preference (throat hit , vapor amount , taste , etc) . I hope your bf finds his !

I love that my bf no longer has that lingering cigarette smell .
And he no longer tries to cover the smell in his breath w / gum which usually doesn't work anyway ...

Deb , there are many sites online that will ship to Canada . But do your research before purchasing your ecig. Good luck ! It is an EXCELLENT alternative !

Aren't they usually expensive ?
I know the kiosk in Tyson's mall sells a starter kit for $165 and it's no different than the other brands offered online and they're usually manufactured in China but branded in US ..

The only thing I would do at an ecig kiosk is give it a try ...

Yes ! It really is amazing !!
My bf has been a smoker since 14 (yes , he thought it looked cool) .
Congrats to your auntie !
Have her try the Ecig juice instead of buying the cartridges .. it'll save her even more money

My bf smoked his Intellicig EVO at a few non smoking bars this weekend .
A barback ran to my bf screaming bc he thought he was smoking a cigarette , but quickly calmed down and was amazed that it was an electronic one w / water vapor exhaled instead of smoke (second hand smoke) .

It's available in Canada. Back in March one of the distributors "lit up" and blew "smoke" into a smoke detector in Princess Margaret Hospital (cancer hospital) in front of shocked nurses. It was a stupid gimmick to get him in the news.

But if the device works and helps a smoker kick the habit, sounds good to me!

ok this is probably a stupid question, but do i need the delux kit with the extra battery?
i read the faq's, but can't find anything related to battery life.
from what i understand, it has a rechargable battery, right?
do i just need the single kit and probably extra catridges?
also, i read one of the reviews that talked about leaking catridges... anyone had that happen?

sorry for all the questions, i have never heard of this thing before and i am very intrigued.

^ oh .. that's weird .
From the little info sheet that my bf got with his EVO kit is that battery life on an EVO battery is about 9hrs for a 'regular smoker' ... so depending on how often you smoke , you might need two batteries ... so if you're not a heavy smoker (more than 1 pack a day) .. you will do fine w / just one battery The extra battery is there for your convenience , really

I've had a friend whom is a light smoker and the EVO battery lasted him 3 days .. ! no joke . I think he was only taking 5 to 10 inhalations a day though (15 inhalation = 1 cigarette) because he claims that was all the nicotine fix that he needed throughout the day (he's trying to cut back on nicotine ) .

I didn't read your post close enough .. lol .
You can order extra cartridges if you wish , at $3.99 for a pack of 5 (which equates to about 35 cigarettes) is a killer deal imo , but if you're interested in it , you should just purchase the the kit and an extra pack of cartridge to try .

Leaking is common in the cartridges because sometimes the manufacturer overfill it with nicotine juice , but that can be easily fixed with a few inhalations (my bf has encountered this problem too and it's not a big issue) .

And if the ecig really works for you and you really like it , you can switch over to the dripping / dipping method w / your preferred e juice which will save you even more money My bf uses his EVO ecig with juice that he purchased for $20 (20 mL) and it lasted him well over 3 months and he used to smoke 1/2 a pack a day ... you can do the math if you want , but that is REALLY cheap when you compare it to regular cigarettes

I hope this helps If you have any more questions , do not hesitate to send them an email .. they're very quick when it comes to responding to enquiries .. LOL I know when my bf first started I emailed them a TON bc I was skeptical about the product ...

One of the reviews of the Intellicig EVO stated you get a 5 second hit and have to wait 2 minutes for another hit, is this true?

There is another one that has a manual push button for unlimited drag, seems more like what he would need.

that's a safety precaution and unique feature of the EVO to make sure you won't OD (you can get carried away sometimes , lol) on nicotine and won't ruin the atomizer (the device that heats up the nicotine juice to vaporize the nicotine) due to over heating .. & I don't think it's a 5 second hit though .. I've watched my bf tak a drag much longer than that

and yes .. there are manuals but they're over $100 on the internet try puresmoker.com .

If you go on e-cigarette-forum.com you can read a lot more reviews on all sorts of ecigs . I just know that my bf loves his EVO after trying several models and that's the one that he's going to stick with (been over 5 months with it) ... his friend has the JoyE (the one you posted) and no longer uses it ... my bf also said that the JoyE is good , but the battery life is not comparable to the EVO . So it's really up to you either way it's a A LOT better than smoking cigarettes ! gL in your search

CNN recently released this article titling , "FDA and health experts warn against use of e-cigarettes" with little to no supporting information.

FDA and health experts warn against use of e-cigarettes - CNN.com

They did not use an unbiased laboratory setting nor a panel of unbiased 'health experts' . The three doctors that the FDA used were all against smoking , as in , they want everyone to stop smoking , period . In the article , they said that they found diethylene glycol (a carcinogen) in one of the sample (diethylene glycol is used to dry out tobacco leaves so chances are it's in a traditional cigarette) , but they only sampled 19 samples of two "well-known" brands (not the Intellicig brand) and the finding was 0.01% which is significantly less than the allotted safe dosage of 0.2% . The article is also stated that the Ecig is targeting small children and that labeling 'ADULT WITH PRE-EXISTING NICOTINE ADDICTION USE ONLY' further encourages young children to try the product bc of 'ADULT ONLY' , like a forbidden fruit of some sort .. what a crock of shit . They wanted warning labels and now that they have it , they're turning it on the ecig ... They also made up a nicotine juice flavor to emphasize the targeting of children .. the flavor doesn't exist and they need to stop using children as a focal point . Furthermore , with all of the "information" that the FDA provided in that article it seems like they should regulate the nicotine juice that goes into the ecig instead of the ecig itself if they so desperately want to take some control in the matter .

The FDA is ruining the image of the ecig and will probably poison the mind of those that do not know a thing about the ecig .. it's such a shame ...

Oh yea , I forgot to add: the study that the FDA conducted took place in MAY ! If the ecig was such a health hazard , why did the FDA wait 2 MONTHS to release this information ?!

i have been trying to search that forum you suggested, but it is a bit over my head.

i just want to know what strength catridges i should get.
if i normally 1/2 to 1 pack a day of lights, do i order the low or medium?
maybe i should just try both.
