Do you mean Microcytosis? If so, I'm guessing they took samples of your blood and found the red blood cells volume (MCV lab value) to be smaller than average? How were the other labs (i.e. hemoglobin, hematocrit, reticulocytes, etc)? Microcytosis usually occurs with anemia usually due to iron deficiency or menstruation; however, there are also other causes. In general, I would think it better to have an idea of what's going on...especially if the doctor recommends it.
