my mom did...she was puking up blood for 3 days and was swollen for a little while but it settled down nicely. of course said deviated septum was not her only motivation...she is serbian after all...

i had mine fixed.
do it, you will breathe sooo much better esp at night!!
i was a little swollen, not bruised and it settled perfectly.
i had some pain after but nothing that was horrible!!
i only had my septum fixed though nothing "cosmetic."
so the shape of my nose didn't change only the line of it.
make sure you are going to a good ENT doctor or plastic surgeon is the best advice i can give you!!! esp. if you are changing the shape of your nose!!

How long until it was fully healed? Did your insurance cover it? I don't need or want my nose shape changed, it would just be nice to breathe easier

mine was more cosmetic but they did fix my deviated septum as well.......insurance did not cover mine and to fully heal was about a year

regardless, totally worth it IMO

i got mine fixed about 6 or 7 years ago. i know that my insurance did cover most of it. i get mine fixed by an ENT doctor not a plastic surgeon. i will ask my mom tonight how much of it was covered by the insurance and how much came out of pocket. i don't remember. if i remember correctly, it was not a long time until i fully healed from it. i want to say maybe 3 months max, it was so long ago i don't remember. i know it was not that bad at all. mine was not for cosmetic reason so it didn't take as long to heal as someone who had reshaping. my doc did an awesome job!! i did research before and he was the best in my city so i went with him. haven't had any problems since then and breath perfectly now through my nose!! and my nose is not slightly crooked anymore!!

I think insurance took about 1/3 of my mom's, since she did have a bump taken off too and it was done by a plastic surgeon.

luckily I did not inherit the big serbian nose that I'd have to pay for to fix unfortunately on dad's side, the noses start out straight and then growwwww so I will have a big one by the time I'm 95 like uncle luigi

I LOVE big noses. Not kidding here. It gives someone more character, IMO...I'm not even attracted to guys with small noses

I have a very deviated septum as well, the same ENT who botched my medialization thyroplasty for my vocal cord would like to whet his scalpel on my nose next.
He swears my insurance will cover it.
I swear never to let him get near me with a scalpel again.

If you don't get any reshaping done and fix only the septum, insurance will cover it...just find a different guy to do it. The only reason insurance didn't cover it completely for my mom was that she had her nose bump shaved off as well. btw, if you do any singing at all, reshaping will mess up the resonance of your voice and change its quality (which is why Barbra Streisand won't get hers done)

I used to think Adrien (Edit: not Brody--Grenier. I was mixing them up!) was hot until I learned what a flaming-ass liberal he is

My husband has his done about 5 years ago. I think he had it done on like a Wed and went back to work on Mon. He didn't take anything stronger than Tylenol and had no swelling. He did have to irrigate his nose for a few weeks and that was pretty gross. He does sleep better and breath better now but he still has a lot of sinus problems. Our insurance did cover it since it was done by an ENT for medical reasons only. His nose looks exactaly the same.

My husband really needs to get his done.. My SIL had hers done - along with "reshaping" and insurance didnt cover it at all - but after reading through the comments Im guessing because of the cosmetic aspect of it. I checked our insurance and if an ENT does it w/no cosmetic repairs it's 100% covered... so now we're just waiting until our son is older.. because he randomly likes to headbutt daddy and that would be a disaster after fresh surgery. (My SIL got a cabinet door slammed in her face by accident after hers and it was misery)

yeah, i wouldn't let that doctor touch my nose either if he already effed up once!! def find a new ENT if you ever fix it!!

research is the key when getting anything done!! some doctors don't know what the fu** they are doing!!

i know my insurance covered mine but i believe my mom had to pay a deductible of some sort. i do know that there are some plastic surgeons (at least in my city) who can get insurance to cover part of a rhinoplasty as well due to a deviated septum.

OT but he has a huge crush on my roommate's sister. I find that amusing because she likes big noses too

my exhubs had his done and had about 3 days where he was whacked out on vicodins/anti-inflams for the pain and swelling. after he got the packing removed, he was much better, and was feeling normal after 2ish weeks and fully healed after 6ish months (he had a pretty severe case though, so i'm sure that played into the slightly extended recovery.) it helped his breathing tremendously, and he slept much better after the procedure.

I think I sleep well, but I always wake up tired... so I am thinking that I might want to have it fixed. Sounds like I will survive, as long as I don't go to Jessani's Dr. (I'm really sorry by the way ) I hope insurance covers it, I'm going to the Dr tomorrow to discuss where to go, insurance, etc. Wish me luck
