Neck stinging/burning.. Anyone have any clues? :)

Hey y'all! Been a while huh? <3

I have been really busy with life however i wanted to ask some advice..

I have a pain on the left side of my neck. To describe it it feels like a stining/burning sensation and comes and goes randomly throughout the day. I have a very, very high pain tolerance so i am not suffering with it but its been almost 2 weeks now and although it feels a tiny bit better it does not seem to want to go away just yet.. My doctor has no idea (..and he is one of the top docs in SD) and so i am just going to wait it out and if it does not go away i will seek more medical advice. Last week it FELT like a burn to the touch and i would flinch if it was touched.. Now it just comes and goes and almost itches as it stings now. It is just very strange and i cannot figure out what it is because it does not hurt to move my neck around and does not feel like a muscle pain as much as a nerve pain but it is not constant and does not seem to have a pattern to its sting/burn. I am not all that worried, more just curious.. I wondered if anyone has any idea what it could be? When you look at my neck you cannot see any oibvious marks or redness/swelling. Its a mystery! I took a photo to show the area it runs down on my neck-sort of follows a vein (Which is why i thought maybe nerve damage or something)..

Anyways, just curious if anyone has had this or has any idea what it could be or what cause it.. Thankyou! -xoxox-

I am thinking it's a nerve issue, which could be as simple as a pinched nerve, or something more serious. I'm surprised your doc didn't refer you to a neurologist to have them check it out. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I hope you feel better.

Another health & well being issue that really needs to be taken to your doctor.

^^As i said, i did take it to the doctor

I still have it but its a lot fainter and does not cause much of a problem for me. I agree that it is probably a nerve issue that time will heal. If it was anything like it was to start with i'd be more worried but i think it is healing away..

Thankyou <3

I will say a prayer for you. I hope you don't mind.

Me too! - This just started about a week ago. Did your pain finally go away?

Pain in the neck

Wow, it's been so long, forgot this post was ever out there.

That pain when on for a few months and then went away on it's own. However earlier this year (2013) I got a shooting pain in my neck in the same area but going from my ear to the top of my shoulder. I did my normal treatment, which was ignore it and hope it goes away. A few weeks later I'm playing racquetball and that's when it really started to hurt. I think that was the final straw. A few days after that I ended up with a sustained shooting pain that forced me to call for a ambulance. On a scale of 1 to 10, it was an eleven. My wife was really shocked, because I never ask to go to the doctor. This time the pain was so bad I thought I was going to pass out.

The ER doctor gave me a muscle relaxer and some pain meds. That seem to get everything under control. I followed-up with 10 chiropractor sessions.

I do think this was nerve related, and the only thing I could find to explain it was Dysesthesia.

I have a physical coming up with my primary doctor, so I'll discuss this with them. Doctors always like it when you match up symptoms on the internet

If you find out anything please post back. Thanks.

pain left side of neck

Thank you so much for quick reply. I am going to doc this week. My father is a Doc but has no clue. Its a really weird thing. I will definitely keep you and everyone here informed as to what this is. I am a Personal Trainer and in fairly good shape for 43. But who knows right?
I live a hectic life and could be stress related but I also had some dental work done and could be a factor. Once again Hips, Thanks for the quick reply. Nice to know I am not in boat alone. Hope I can be of help next week. Have a good weekend. Will report next week. RM

PS. Went to Chiro today. Popped my neck and back but didn't do much good.
