Help! my sinuses are acting up...

This RARELY happens to me...the last time I can remember feeling this miserable is about 4 or 5 years ago so I honestly don't know what to do to help it.
I know Sudafed would help, but I am afraid that would just make me feel drowsy and I really don't want that as I am in the middle of moving in and unpacking my new apartment.
I tried making top ramen and put a ton of cayenne pepper in it, as I know spicy stuff will make my nose run, but it didn't do anything.
Help please!

thats a good idea, but that requires finding my pots and pans and unpacking one

if that doesn't work is there any medicine I could take that would help, and that won't make me drowsy?

I totally feel you on the sinus pain.. Vicks Sinex works really well for me. It's a small bottle that you put in your nose and squeeze and you feel results immediately w/o making you drowsy .

Get a netipot.

NeilMed makes a sinus rinse you can use in a netipot, but they also have a nasal irrigation bottle that I found works even better. They sell them at Walgreens in the allergy and sinus section. Also, Claritin-D 12 hour is non-drowsy. It has loratadine and sudafed. Sudafed is one of the only allergy medicines that is non-drowsy, but you have to get the one behing the pharmacy counter. The one on the stock shelves is Sudafed PE, which instead of psuedophedrine contains phenylephrine, which diesn't help much and can cause either drowsiness OR hyperactivity. Their is also a nasal spray called 4-way that works wonders, but try not to use that one too much because it can be addictive. Good luck!

Zyrtec. I take it for seasonal allergies. It takes a while to start working but it lasts 24 hours.

I've had sinus problems ever since I was little and it actually took 24 years until someone actually told me the cure. The medicine is a nasal spray that does have some steroid in it, but i have done a little bit of research and enquired doctors before i started using it and as it turns out, the amount of steroids in the medicine is not enough to have side effects on the rest of your body.

Just before i started using the spray, i used to have really BAD headaches and migraines that left me unable to move at times and i have to say this nasal spray is a miracle! for me at least.

I have used and still use the neilmed sinus rinse once in a while, i don't have much sinus problem now so i don't really remember to use it. when i first started using the nasal spray, i paired it up with the sinus rinse and well, as expected, after rinsing all the crap inside my nose, the spray definitely worked better.

there are 3 nasal sprays that i was told but i can only remember 2 off hand. nasonex and flonase. i've only used these two and both of them work wonderful; i only use flonase now for some unknown reason. ask your doctor about it! good luck.

My husband has Horrrrrible allergies that almost always turn into a sinus infection. He started taking Zyrtec about a month ago and now calls it his miracle pill. He can even mow our 10 acres without getting sick. You should give it a try, only one a day.
