Week long headache

So last Monday I got a headache and it has lasted almost a week now. Tuesday night was the worst and felt like a migrane. Since then it feels like it is getting better. It's just a faint achyness over my whole head but it just won't go away. I feel the best when I'm sleeping and over have just woken up because it's gone. Then it begins again. I'm starting to think it could be a sinus infection, or ear infection or some weird virus. But I seem perfectly fine otherwise - no other sypmtoms.

Has anyone ever had this?? I think tomorrow I'm going to make a doctor's appt. for later this week. I really hope it's not something serious but just some random virus. All advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

Perhaps you are dehydrated? Try drinking more water and see if it helps at all.
I had this happening to me too, but they started going away after I drank more water.

Sorry I can't really help because I get migraines all the time every since I hit my head on the basketball court 6 years ago. Just try to make sure you are properly hyrated but if the headaches continue, you should definitely see your PCM or a neurologist.

I get those all the time. I went to a neurologist and recommended a treatment of nortriptyline for 6-8 months. After 2 months I'm ready to quit. It makes me feel dizzy all the time, I can barely get through my workout because I'm always tired and I've gained fat...not weight, just fat

I would make sure youre eating regularly as well. I find when my eating habits get off, I get headaches and they can last a couple of days even after I get back on track. But if its a sinus headache, adding a decongestant (if its safe for you to take them) will help relieve the pressure and generally will help get rid of the headache. Hope you figure out what it is, headaches are such a pain to live with.

Could it be a tension headache? Any extra stress?

I don't really know how to help but I do know how you feel. I am going on almost 2 weeks of a constant headache. Even my medication that normal helps has not helped. I go to bed with a headache and I wake up with one.

To make matters worse I have a hige pimple growing on my forhead and I can feel l=my heartbeat in it. LOL.

^^The feeling absolutely stinks!

I do seem to be fitting all sypmtoms of a tension headache. Good news is it seems to be better today. I made an appt for Wed just to check with the doc. I'll let you all know what he says. Thanks for your advice!

I get horrible tension headaches. I feel it when they start to come on, it's always in my shoulders and neck first, and once it hits my head I'm just plain SOL. Sometimes they last a week. If I can take a Flexeril and 800 mg of Ibuprofen and lay down, as well as do some stretching exercises, I can usually head them off before they get bad. I learned a little trick for stretching out your traps while I was in massage school. Take a towel and roll it up, then place it long ways down your spine and lay on it, it also helps if you do the same thing to support your lower back.

Massage and lots of water is another great cure.

I get this too
Mine are sinus headaches, I am prone to sinus problems.
it's like an achy heavy feeling, especially "around/behind" my eyes.
Hard to explain, not a pounding headache, but just there

For me it's from when I wake up til the end of the day and can last for weeks. Then I can go for weeks and all is good
I do find that as the day goes on it does get a bit better but never quite goes away.

I found when it gets bad for me, a course of sinus tablets and/or nasal spray helps. As well as the usual painkillers.

Sorry you are having to deal with this. When you see the Doc, maybe ask about getting your sinus checked out. Maybe it is a sinus infection?

^ Yes - I'm definitely going to have him check out my sinuses and ears just in case. I'll let you all know what I learn tomorrow.

Sinus infection or maybe your eyes have changed. Do you wear contacts or glasses? If they get worse that'll do it.

Have your blood pressure checked. If it gets too low it can cause excruciating headaches the can last for long amounts of time.

So just as I expected, the doc said tension headaches. From my horrible posture and tightened shoulder muscles, this is causing all the stress in my shoulders/neck and radiating upward.

I just need to keep taking advil til they are gone. I've taken a week off my running because I was convinced it was making them worse. I really need to start back up but was hoping they'd be completely gone by now.

Thanks for everyone's advice. The past week was horrible and I hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon!

Ahhh, I feel for you. I get horrible tension headaches and will sometimes go to bed and wake up with the headache even worse then when I laid down.

Did he not give you any muscle relaxer's? A flexeril at bedtime is a God send for me!

It seems that this is not a big problem yet would like to suggest you to go to the doctor to get the right suggestion.
