Measurements for a size 26?

Hey guys,

I'm buying jeans for a girl and it's hard because I've always bought jeans for myself. She's 5'6" and typically a size 26 in other jeans. What are the measurements for a typical size 26?

Is it 14.75" aligned? 15"? 14.5"? Any help would be great, thanks!

No one can really tell you.

Best for you to measure an item that fits her well, and then compare them to the item under consideration.

OR buy retail where you have a nice return/exchange policy for fit.

Well, she is a size 26 in all of her jeans.

Just like I'm a size 30 or 31, which is typically 15.5"-16.0" aligned or flat or whatever. I'm sure someone out there can tell me a typical size 26 measurements! Thanks thoughhh

^ no...you're wrong.
i have tons of jeans that are the same tagged size...and i can honestly say that i doubt every single pair measures the same.
it's going to depend of the brand, the style, when they were made...etc.

SO if she is a 26 in all her jeans, then buy her a 26.
Its easy

If you are so determined to figure it out, then go look in the mall and check the measurements that have been provided for size 26 jeans.

They will all vary to a degree.

you need to take her BEST FITTING jeans

measure waist
hips
rise
and inseam to a T, so that when you find a pair or check measurements, you have a basic idea.

most online sites when you call, will take measurements, but you have to be clear on what you are looking for.

but as said above washes, style and brand can run different for all body shapes.......therefor you have to do trial and error

I most defintely know washes range and vary, even brands. I'm just looking for the typical measurements for that range. She ranges from a 26 to a 27 in RR, COH, SFAM.

What is the TTS measurements for that? And I can't measure her because its a surprise for her! Sorry for my persistence!

I would guess, based on little formulas I've worked out for most misses sizing, that a 26 might run like this:

taking into account a 7.5" rise (average for that size I think)...waist should be the tag size + 3, or 29. 29/2 = 14.5 aligned.
since a 26 is usually a misses size 4, and misses sizes on average are your hip width - 30....reverse that, 4 + 30 = 34. hips should be around 17" across.

thighs vary widely so that's where you'd want to measure a pair of her jeans...I tried to get my suitemate some jeans but she has really muscular thighs so the 27s that fit her everywhere else were still too tight there.

^ that sounds about right for 26 measurements...

but OP, if she fits into some 27s in R&R ...i would look into a 27 too cus a lot of R&R run big so a lot of mine are also 26 but i'm a 27....

idk...i would try and find a way to get measurements from some of her jeans like others have suggested

Let me speak in crayon, since what I and everyone else said has not been heard:

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TTS MEASUREMENT FOR A 26!!!

Wash, brand, cut, style will ALL CAUSE THESE TO VARY GREATLY!!

IF she normally wears 26,

THEN BUY HER A 26!!

I second what Joan said. You know she's a 26. We can help you find stuff that's true to size (as in, does not run big or small).

I am a TTS 25 myself but have several pairs of 26's that happen to run small.

the few pair of R&R I have ever had ran small, except for the Tan Snake Roths. You can't generalize like you did above.

I think the OP just wants a "general" idea of what a 26 measurement should be. When I buy jeans online, I look at the waist, hip, and thigh measurement to make sure they'll fit. I'm a 25 and I usually need the waist to be 14", hips 17" and thigh 9". I know that sizing varies, but I think the OP just wants to have a general idea so that she has something to go by

Well, if the OP just wants a general idea, then he should just buy a size 26 unless he's buying Paige and then he'll want to size up.

This is an exercise in futility.
