| | | What an A hole Here's the background: a radio station in Boulder puts out a CD every year around the holidays to raise money for the Boulder County AIDS project. The CD is of artists playing in the studio live. Big deal artists. So the CD is in major demand, people camp out and wait on line. It is only $10 and limit 2 per person. So this ebay seller bought a bunch, maybe he works in the store that sold them, and is selling them on ebay for $30 and up. eBay.com Seller List: boulder-beagle
Edit, too fast I think the bidder is legit.

| | | That sucks, Liz. Let's hope that they are going to donate some of that money they make off the CD's to a good cause. Talk about major "scrooge" material. Geesh.

| | That's like the people selling fake breast cancer stuff on ebay...makes my blood boil. And all those wankers who bought the "not a plastic bag" at whole foods and then sold them for 5-10x the price.
Sucks for the people who wanted to buy the CD and have the money go to a good cause

| | | Ouch, harsh to re-sellers here huh.
I don't understand the animosity with this guy. Technically he stood in line and purchased the CD's so the money went to the charity regardless. He didn't STEAL them and then try to profit without the charity getting it's kickback.
Maybe people didn't want to wait in line overnight for a ten dollar CD. Heck, I would NEVER wait in line for a CD but if I really wanted it I would gladly pay double the price. |

Heck, I would NEVER wait in line for a CD but if I really wanted it I would gladly pay double the price. | Actually, he is still making money off the cd's. If you noticed and carefully read the OP's first post, it said he is selling them at more than the cd actually sells for. That would mean he is making a profit.
People like this man are lower than low. Way to turn a good thing into a negative.

| | | Lol, wtf.
Anyone here who's resold shiz on eBay they scored for cheap is a tad hypocritical.
BTW, guys, a good amount of the designer used clothing on eBay is only there because of thrifters reselling stuff they found at Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.

| | | The problem here isn't that he's selling items for more than he bought them for - we have a ton of resellers on the forum. The problem is he [more than likely] obtained a CHARITY ITEM illegally and is reselling for profit. |

| | | ^Av, my husband gave me the same argument. This is completely different, the spirit in which the CD was created was to raise money for charity. The designers of clothing aren't creating the apparel to benefit charity. Buying and reselling designer items and reselling an item intended to raise money for a charity for profit are like comparing apples and oranges, IMO. |

| | | He's got all of seven and that makes him obtain them illegally?
ON EDIT: What about thrifters that resell Goodwill/Salvation Army stuff?

| | | 7 are listed now but several have ended already.
And I think it is crap that people resell donated items for a profit. |

| | ^^^I think reselling items from Goodwill and reselling these CDs that were distributed for charity are completely different. It's Goodwill's fault they don't know the value of the items Plus they sell a lot of clothes to places like Value World (where I got a pair of AGs to resell), so they're really only after the money themselves. |

| | | There was a limit on World Series tics in 2001. The scalpers bought food for the homeless to stand in line. Always a way around a limit.

| | | I see both sides of the argument. In all fairness to the seller, he started the auctions at a dollar, so he only turned a profit due to the bidding of other eBay members. But at the same time, it's not cool to take a chartable item and then resell it for more, regardless of circumstance | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
