A new house or a new car?

Hi, guys! If you were in my position, what would you get first, a house or a car? I'm single, working in and out of California and Dubai. And this year, my company is planning to make me stay in CA to manage some accounts within the state. My work is mainly sales and marketing and I am doing a lot of sales call. Now I am thinking if I have to get my own car first which will be useful and helpful for my work or get my own house rather than renting an apartment. What would you suggest? :-) And would you know a good firm that can give some financial assistance? Thanks in advance!

Go for a new house!!! The value would not depreciate unlike that of a car.

Personally, I would get a house first because it will increase its value even if it takes years. I don't consider in putting more money in a car because it can easily decrease its value. But, if you want a car and borrow funds, I only know that a bank is the one who can give you financial assistance at the moment.

Thanks for your input guys. I guess you both offer great points to choose buying a house over getting a car. Does a bank offer fixed rate mortgages? I've been asking around and someone at the office mentioned that it's better to borrow from a credit union rather than a bank and he asked me to look up a bunch of San Diego credit union like First Financial and Calcoast. Never had to apply for a mortgage loan before nor visit a credit union for this type of issue. Any ideas?
