| | | I pay $18 for original or $10 without. I get a 5% discount off those prices if I pay cash.

| | | I pay the same for original or without, it's $7.
Why don't you try looking in the phone book under "Seamstress, or Alterations." You more likely than not could find someone very experienced and more reasonable than a department store.

| | | I used to pay about $8-$12--but now I do my own! It's super easy thanks to Nola's and Incagirl's guides! (depends on how you hem, I've used both!)

| | | Babypoison, there is a shop in Metrotown that will do euro hems for $15. If you grab one of their cards from Aritzia they will take 15 or 20% off....I can't remember now. I'll go look in my wallet...their card may be in there and I'll let you know the name of the store. Did you end up going to the Lululemon outlet? |

| | | I take mine to a dry-cleaners/ tailors in the neighborhood and they charge $8 for hemming w/o original and $12 w/ original. They always look very nice, and they have easily matched weird-colored hem threads on R&R.

HOWEVER, I just recently learned to do my own original hems using Incagirls AMAZING hand-hemming with original hem guide (search for it on the forum). It seriously is easy (takes maybe 45 minutes) and looks great- exactly how it looks when they do the original hems at a tailor's shop without cutting off the material. Here's a pic of my hemmed Paiges (sorry for the close ups, I was too lazy to take them off heh). First pic is to show how you can make the side seams line up, and the second is of the front. | I searched all over for incagirl's guide, and I found one, but not the glue hem one.....where to find it??

| | | Wow... great prices. I have two ladies- one is better at hemming and the other is tops at repairs.
Repairs (rips/wear): $8-$15 depending on size
Hemming with originals: $20-$30 depending on who knows what- she charges me different all the time. I don't complain because she does a really good job though, lol
Taking hems down/re-hem (dress pants etc.): $12
General alterations: $25-$80 depending on article of clothing.
I'm 5'10 with a tiny ass waist as compared to the rest of my body. My world revolves around alterations. It's just always been a fact of life for me.

| | $4 for NEW hem
$7 for original.
family friend. SO glad i don't have to pay over $10 to get jeans hemmed. friends of mine are willing to pay $25 for tailoring.. SUCH a waste.
but i had my mom read over some tutorials like this one. DaciaRay.com » How to Hem Jeans
and now she just does all my jeans and it takes like 20-30 minutes instead of having to wait a week to get them done at a tailor. |

| | | Vis (John), if you go to Chinatown SF, Vince vdog says he gets his done there with originals for $5. Since I have about 2 R&R's and 5 TR's to do, I might go there. Also Vince says they can do it while you wait, so you can wear them right away!

| | | My place in Toronto charges $20 for the original and ...... $20 for any old hem! That's right. But it's seriously the best job you will get anywhere. Solid shit.
~$30 to get a shirt taken in in the sleeves/sides.
Don't know about other prices.

If hemming cost 30 bucks here I'd quit my job and go become a tailor. |

Am I silly to think it's ridiculously expensive to take in a couple of inches? How much do you guys pay to get your jeans altered? I guess I need to learn to sew because I have 4 pairs of NWT jeans sitting in my closet that need to be hemmed |

i used babyj's guide, but just stitched by hand rather than using the machine
and what about a local dry cleaner? in my experience, the alterations are not so expensive.
