Smelly Jeans

I ordered some black jeggings from Express, and they smell horrible. I'm guessing it is due to the dye. I've washed them several times and soaked them for hours in soapy water, but they still smell. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

What about trying an odor neutralizer first, then spritzing with febreeze or whatever fragrance freshener you want to use . Just a thought..

Eta: or vinegar which was posted while I was typing

Really? That's good to know; we have two inside dogs, and their bedding can get smelly somethimes. Thanks for the advice! How much do you pour in? Is a cup too much?

Vinegar also helps lock the color in so they won't fade as much. With dark colors....you should always wash them in vinegar before anything

I remember reading that somewhere; too bad I already washed them about 4 times. I'm going to try the vinegar next; just have to buy some. Thanks for all of your responses!

I don't really measure but with a full load of dog bed covers, blankets, leashes & collars etc I probably put about 1 cup, could put more I just pour. We have two lab mixes that are outside during the day so it's easy to find stuff they have made smell like them, lol.

I run it with the lid open so after it is done with the agitation cycle it sits with the water, soap and vinegar for about 30 minutes to an hour. Then I put down the lid and let the water drain and it finish its cycle.

FYI: I get my vinegar at the dollar store, super cheap!

Good call in the vinegar idalis and CutePurpleStars. My Mom use to use it for my pet rabbits things. He was a flemish giant and liter trained so he was more like a dog or cat. She only stopped using vinegar because the smell makes me really sick. It's just one of those smells that even in tiny amounts, I just can't take it. But it is great for things like this.
