To gym or not to gym

So I had a membership to 24 Hour Fitness but was not using it much, so I put my membership on "hold" for 6 months. The 6 months is almost up and I am debating on whether or not to renew. I prefer to do my cardio outside - I run and rollerblade on a paved trail near where I live, but would defnitely benefit from a step/yoga class every once in a while. I have been doing simple upper body resistance training at home - pushups, biceps curls, triceps extensions, abs stuff, but it would be nice to have the option of an entire weight room at my disposal as well.

Its a toss up I guess. Those of you who work out regulary, do you have a gym membership?

I have a gym membership. I always wanted to have one and to work out but was too cheap. When my company went to the local gym that had just relocated (and majorly expanded) about one block away they came up with a great deal. So I finally have a gym membership, and use it, thanks only to a company discount.

I always said I hated going to the gym but now I kind of like it. I haven't gone for a few days and miss it a little bit. Do you do more cardio stuff than you do weights? Can you put it on hold for another couple months? Maybe after summer (if and when the weather is bad outside) you'd want to use the gym again.

I have free access to the University gym
When I no longer have this, I plan on joining a gym. I don't like exercising by myself outside and the weather is so crazy I prefer working out inside.

I recently joined my first "adult" gym after using my free University gym for ages (I graduated from college 7 years ago lol). Anyway, I love it!! They have every amenity known to man, and knowing that I have to pay for it makes me get up off my lazy bum and haul ass to the gym as many times as I can. I don't live in an area where I can go outside and run or do anything like that, so the gym is the best option for me.

Ah, good point. I do more cardio than weights, because I am your typical girl who would rather lose fat than risk bulking up lol. (yes I know that is silly). The weather here is only nice enough to go outside about 2 months out of the year, and I don't mind wearing extra layers of clothes, but it rains like heck here and that I do NOT like. Maybe I will re-evaluate at the end of summer.

i also have a membership to 24 hr fitness. i was there religiously throughout the winter when it was too cold to run outside. i really like the classes they offer -esp. 24 set. but now that it's nice out, i only go maybe once-twice a week for weights or classes. i think it's still pretty cheap each month so i'm holding onto mine. in a month or two when it's too hot to run outside, i'll be back there.

I teach and take classes at least 3 times a week, so my 24 membership is perfect for that (plus at $24/month you cannot go wrong).

I like going to the gym as well. I run to and from as well which gets most my cardio in. Then I alternate it w/P90x. Can't go too hard core right now because of fertility treatments.

Yep-I go to 24 hour too. I find that when I'm paying for a membership, I'm more likely to use it Not to mention that with a kids club, it often gives me a much needed break from the monkeys ;)

I don't have a gym membership because my apartm ent complex has a really good gym with all the free weights that i need.

But that being said i like to workout with my BF and ghe and a good friend of his have memberships at LA fitness and i will go there with them sometimes.

Mind you I am big into weightlifting and strongman style training (the deadlift is my best friend). Because of this we have also discovered some great weightraining gyms that don't have all those bells and whistles and machines we don't need.

I used to workout at my school gyms and after I graduated college, I went and bought a gym membership (Exclusively Women's in Canada). I didn't really like it all that much because the manager and employees kinda sucked. They were extremely pushy in trying to get you to spend over $2000 on a personal trainer.

The worst part though, was when I cancelled my membership. You needed to notify them of cancellation atleast one month before your 12 month membership expires, which is what I did (I did it a month and a half before it expired). For some reason, they continued to bill/charge my credit card for an 2 extra months, which was actually 4 monthly payments since I was also paying for my younger sister's membership as well. I went to my gym manager about it (whom, btw was supposed to CANCEL my membership) and she just told me to call head office. I called head office and they were NO help whatsoever. I ended up calling another Exclusively Women's gym that wasn't in my city and the manager there was sooo much better than the one at my gym. She was the one who finally got everything sorted out for me, since my gym manager wouldn't do shit. It took a lot of phone calls and driving around to actually get reimbursed for those extra charges. Oh, and I tried calling my credit card company to get them to do a chargeback and stop allowing payments to go out to the gym, but they said they couldn't do anything until the gym itself stopped billing me (since the membership ran on pre-authorized withdrawals)

I thought I was just unlucky with this gym, but later on I saw something on the news reporting on a story about gyms doing very similar things/scams like this. After that, I decided to just work out at home. With the ridiculous gas prices these days, it also saves me money driving to the gym all the time

Find out the average age of the participants. A third grader may not fare well in a class where most of the other students are in sixth grade. See if there are separate classes for younger kids, pre-teens, and teenagers.

Its better to avoid gym and loose weight with some daily exercise at home and Green Coffee Beans Extract. because it has no side effect and loose weight with in weeks.
