Flip Flops? What do you think?

Yahoo!
Video on flip flops and how they are bad.
What do guys think? Doctors are a bunch of baloney or they're right? I wear my Reefs ALL THE TIME and I have absolutely no problems so I think either I've got uber flippers or they're full of it.

I think it's very true. I only have one pair of thongs & wear them only to the pool or around the house.

I agree, I think it's true.

I agree. Actually, as I was coming home from dropping off my kid at school I was thinking how I walked differently with flip flops on. I think it's because you have to try to keep them on your foot.

I agree...ironically the only kind I find comfortable is the cheapie plastic kind. That can't be good for your feet!
I have narrow feet, though, and I prefer a strap around my ankle so my foot isn't just flopping around free.

^^ I'm in big trouble too. I wear flip flops year round with the exception of tennies to work out and a couple months of boots in the winter. I dont walk differently though?

i agree that they are bad for you-no real support. i wore them 24/7 in school but not so much now that i'm working full time - only occasional weekends, pool etc.

i'm sure you'll be the same. don't stress about it too much

did anyone else want to slap the newscaster for pronouncing 'havaianas' so horribly wrong?
I agree that the ones they looked at are awful for you (I wouldn't expect a 5 dollar piece of plastic to provide any support) but I swear by my rainbows. They have arch support and a lot of give, so there is no harsh impact when I walk. Just like any other shoes, you get what you pay for, the rainbows I have have better soles on them than a lot of shoes out there.

I wear them 24/7 ftr

I wear heels like crazy and I would think that those would do worse to your feet than flipflops.

So I guess i'm good to go... or not? Ha.

I love flip flops and had never had any issues. I have a very strong arch as I did ballet/pointe for nearly 18 years. Athletic shoes hurt my feet way worse than my flip flops.

I think a lot of this who-ha about flip flops has to do with the anatomy of your foot.

Agree. If you have a good arch flip flops probably aren't as much of a concern as with those with no arch. I have absolutely flat feet and normally have to wear custom-made orthotics in my shoes, which I obviously can't do with flip flops. I still wear them though, but in moderation.

As a Registered Nurse I KNOW they are not great for my feet, but I will only wear them in the summer (when not at work anyway, I only wear Danskos - 99% of the OR staff wear Danskos).

I wear and own like 10+ pairs of Teva Olawahu...they mold to your foot, and the extra straps help keep to the sandal feel more stable and I never worry they will fall off...so I justify my flip-flop fetish...lol! I have never found any sandal that I will wear like I wear these.

Anyone else like them? I've just never had an issue with them...and I've had foot surgery twice 10-11yrs ago...never again! So I'm protective of my feet.

I tried the Fit-Flops...they run BIG...and I wasn't that impressed. Probably because I don't like things rubbing on my feet or between my toes (and I have not patience to break in shoes).

^^ I really liked the cushioned foot bed so I wanted to get a pair but the straps didn't work for me - I didn't like the material and they were digging into my skin I couldn't size up either. I wish they used softer material for the straps!
