Getting ready for summer!

Yup, it's time for me to get motivated in loosing that freshman 15 I just developed. I'm really little (at 5'1) as it is so please no remarks on how I need to lose weight or anything!! I know my weight is in a good range right now but I'm not exactly in good shape so that's what I plan on working on.

The last time I weighed myself, I was at 115.
I dont have a scale here at college but I'll be flying home next Saturday so I can see the progress I've made then.

My current measurements:
Waist: 29 Hips: 33 Thigh: 21 Bust:35
Yup. Abs and thigh are my target areas!! My abs are my biggest concern right now. Gotta be ready for that beach!!

What I've been doing recently:
1/2 hour on elliptical, stretching, ab work out (a variety of sit ups, etc.), butt work!
Yeah, I'm work out retarded.

Any advice? Mainly for butt, inner thigh, and abs.
Thanks bunches! <3

Edit: With the exception of an elliptical, I prefer not using machines. Oh and my goal is to weigh somewhere between 105 and 110 instead of 115 to 120.

lunges and squats...every which way possible!!!

and it sounds like you are already doing targeted ab work, but you should incorporate lots of core work too.

there are other workout threads in this section - there is a lot of good advice in a lot of them already.

also, you'll notice that the ladies in the p90x thread have amazing upper bodies too. developing your upper body makes you waist appear smaller.

Thank you! I'm new to this whole exercising thing, I never really had to before! haha. I think I'm at the point where my metabolism starts slowing.

i feel your pain..after i get back from school i feel like a gained a lot from late night eating and drinking and whatnot. what really helps for me is eating right...with lots of protein and low carbs aerobics helps too, to melt the fat.

for ab exercises, i strongly recommend getting an ab ball, its cheap and i usually just chill on it like while watching tv, reading, or other stuff while tensing my abs. you can feel the burn after a while! i also read in a recent cosmo article it helps to just tense up your tummy randomly whenever you can remember. and one of my favorite ab workouts (to really feel the pain) is lying on the floor with your legs straight up at a 90 degree angle, then having someone trying to push your legs down, and then you trying to bring the legs back up to starting position. tell them to try to push as hard as they can, then try to bring your legs back up. its hard!! if you're alone, you can do it by yourself by lying on your back and lifting your legs up at a 45 degree angle then holding it, then lowering it. i thought these were better, because i always felt like i was doing situps wrong (my HS gym teacher told me if you do them wrong you can accidentally form a lower gut ) hope this helps, good luck! im going to a beach trip in 2 weeks as well and im trying to get the tummy into shape again

We are in the same boat...after I went on BC and gained about 15 extra pounds. After being forced into a swimsuit, I decided to go the gym as many times a week as possible (usually four). I do elliptical, but usually more like 45 min. And then leg raises, ab lounge, leg presses (I hate my chicken legs) and lunges with weights.

However, I am not trying to lose pounds - I want to lose inches, so that my jeans *might* fit again!

Same here!! The problem I have is that I tend to gain muscle mass pretty fast- which means my thighs get even bigger.

Yup Yup. Same here! So I'm trying to find something inbetween! I guess I wanna lose weight but not really gain much from muscle mass? haha.

Thanks everyone! I'll try the stuff you mentioned. Yay for getting ready for summer!!!

Shall we keep track of everyone's progress?

I don't think that muscular thighs look bad though. Like measurement-wise, it would seem that I have really big thighs compared to the rest of me because they're muscular, but people actually comment on a semi-regular basis (as often as people get thigh comments I guess?) that they are small. The shape of muscular thighs is so different than the shape of flabby thighs that I think it looks fine.

I am all into getting in shape for summer too though! I'm playing soccer, doing new classes at the gym, and playing squash. Yay!

They dont at all! Sorry for not specifying. I'll reword. Muscular thighs (that are blown wayy out of proportion) are ... yeahh.

Best of luck to you with all that! I bet you'll be looking great and in perfect shape! hehe.
