Anyone Body Pump?

I generally hate exercise but am really learning to love this class, its so good for toning-does anyone else go?

I'm supposed to go in an hour but my back has been a bit niggly today so have decided to give it a miss

I have gone a few times but I'd prefer to hit the weight room.

^ That's exactly why I prefer BP, I need someone to scream at me. I need weights for toning but can't be bothered with the gym or the free weights so I take BP once a week.

I like BP too and I hate the free weights section in my gym, all full of sweaty guys and they stare at you.

BodyPump - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

it's pretty cool how the coreography is the same all over the world so if you travel you can take a class anywhere and they'll be doing the same program you currently do at home.

Yes I've done it on and off over the last year.
I really liked it but it was always after Boxercise, and I can not do 2 classes in a row
and Boxercise (? not exactly sure what its called.) is my most favourite class!!
It's a mixture of boxing, kick boxing, karate, and a tiny bit of aerobics. It is so much fun, and this coming from a real life couch potato

I have always hated aerobics and step aerobics with a passion,
was never co-ordinated enough to do those stupid moves like the grapevine, always friggin bumping into the person next to me

I can't do anything that involves too much jumping around as I am so unfit LOL-RPM nearly kills me I'm aiming to increase my fitness levels so I can do more classes like that, by walking to the gym where my pump class is, and generally walking more rather than driving. Its easier now the weather is going to start getting better (hopefully anyway!!)

I use to take this class at my gym three times a week. I absolutely loved it. I noticed a difference in about a month. However, I also did some cardio along with it. I was always upset when I missed because I enjoyed it. I noticed a big change in how much I could lift too over time. I haven't belonged to a gym since baby #1 and hope to start again after baby #2 comes in June. I would recommend trying it and give it a few classes.

We call "boxercise" body combat at my gym. It's my absolute favourite too! I love the muai thai tracks and when they used to have the capoiera jump side kick thing..... loved it!

RPM is definitely a killer, I sweat the most in this class... like dripping wet. The only downside is that it only works out the bottom half of your body. This was the first class I ever took when I joined my gym 3 years ago and had to walk out half way because I nearly fainted. It was really embarassing. But I got a free bottle of powerade drink from it You definitely have to work your fitness up for this class.

Body Attack is a killer too, lots of jumping. And I used to do Pilates, and Body Jam (dance) as well - it's so much fun, but the class times for these are so inconvenient

I'm going to Body Pump in 30 minutes... can't wait!

Just got back from pump-I worked hard today aswell as walking there and back so am quite pleased We have combat too but I don't really like the look of it, but I quite fancy body jam. I'm just worried that I'd walk in there and not be able to keep up (I walked out of a circuit training class once so I know how you feel LOL-I thought I was going to die !!) and also that I'd look stupid because I don't know any of the moves -are the moves difficult/do you need lots of coordination?

I LOVE my bodypump class. Since I started it, I've definitely toned up so much, and lost about 1-2 dress sizes.

I can (and do on occasion) use free weights on my own for upper body stuff, but for my legs, I need someone screaming at me too . Definitely the only thing that gets me through the damn lunge track!

I use to take body combat too. It took a little while to get that, but it was a fabulous workout. I didn't get the moves first, but caught on. It was the same with body pump. Just remember everyone had a first time going to those classes. I wasn't sure about a move in one of them and just asked an instructor for a demonstration of it again before/after class. Most of them are more than happy to help. After a few weeks, you'll be a veteran!

Body Combat, Jam, Attack... any class really, takes at least 2-3 classes to get the hang of all the moves and lingo. At the start of Body Combat they always say to not get discouraged if it's your first time and to stick it out for minimum 3 classes and that it's normal to feel "unco" for the first couple of classes. But it's a great work out for arms and legs and butt. One thing I will not try though is Step... that looks too difficult.

Haven't been able to go this week as I've had a throat infection and I'm hoping I won't find it too tough when I go back!

I do BP about 2-3X week. That's the only weight training I have been doing for the past 3 years. I love it!
