It's just the fact of keeping your own body fit/in shape for me. I can feel it if I don't go on my run for a week, I feel more sluggish, tired, and have more difficulty falling asleep.

To get out to the gym, the best way is to meetup with your best friend at a set time and place. Therefore, your accountable to not only yourself, but to show up so you don't leave your friend alone.

Hope you get something out of that!

Cheers. =D

i just feel better when i work out. i eat better for more energy, i feel taller, my skin looks fresher...

that being said, it is always easier for me to motivate in the summer than the winter....probably because i show more skin, there is more light during the day and produce is usually a lot fresher.

and pasta and rice and chips arent all bad for you - just pick the whole grain kind and you can have them in moderation!

^ I agree with Zoki. I feel better when I workout and my skin glows too. I haven't gone to the gym lately since I've had a ton of school work to do. I will after mid-terms though.

Being able to have more energy and get into my jeans motivate me.

Just the fact of feeling and looking better motivates me! Before I started losing weight I was like a 32... and now I'm a consistent 29! However, I workout 5-6 days a week so I pretty much eat anything I want and not having to worry, except my appetite decreased by almost half ever since I started losing weight.

Also, I just feel so much more relaxed after a visit to the gym! It's like a stress reliever for me...

i just like the way I feel after a good workout of some cardio and weight-lifting. I feel tall and stand straighter, and i just feel really strong. It's a great feeling even though sometimes when I first walk into that room, I just dread it. But yea, a friend to work out with is really helpful, it forces you to show up which is most of the battle.

What motivates me are the hot women walking around the city looking trendy and fit!I use that as motivation to drag myself out of bed and go on 3 runs a week and one race a month.I recently got a memebership to the gym but its just so hard to drag myself there sometimes-being at home with 2 kids under 3 really does its toll
I totally changed the way I use to eat because I realized i am not 18 anymore and my metabolism is not as fast as it use to be-plus I want to be a healthy role model for my kids.
Another thing that motivates me is to put on my old jeans ever week and notice they are going up higher-zipping-bottoning...Thats all the motvation I really need some days-Oh and seeing people I havent seen in forever that expect me to still have my baby weight on mouths drop!

My Diet Motivation: Who has time to eat being a single mom, working full-time I'm too busy feeding him, trying to figure out what he likes and then just eating the leftovers
My Workout Motivation: Seeing all girls in the super perv thread with tight abs motivates me to start doing something to get rid of my mommy belly.

What motivates me to go to the gym is to look hot for my hubby And he does the same for me

I just feel a whole lot better about myself when I've worked out and feel really guilty when I don't. Plus the flab that builds up after not going to the gym for a few weeks is a motivator too !

And I still eat rice and pasta, all in moderation. I neeeeeeeeed rice! If I don't have it for a few days straight I get really crazy!

^ Me too...and what Missypoo said, "looking good for hubby"
I feel so strong after I work out. I think that post-exercise feeling is your bodies way of saying "Thanks for taking care of me..."

now that childhood obesity runs rampant in the US - this is a wonderful example to see!

I am motivated by wanting to look good for myself (and my SO) and my "little goals" that I set for myself. I learned a long time ago that saying "I want to lose xx lbs" doesn't work because it takes so long to get there. Instead, I make smaller goals like, I want to lose 2 lbs by x date or I want to be able to do my reps with 12lb weights instead of 10lb ones. Once I achieve those small goals it psychs me up and makes me want to move on to the next one. That seems to help me the most.

And of course I want to look good for my man too ;)

This is the dumbest thing in the world probably...but when I was skinny (well ok like 135 and would have been a tts 29 if not for the cheap shit jrs jeans i wore that were all 30+) i used to have a really flat stomach...and when i started dieting and working out again this summer...right around when school started, when i got down to my current 145ish, i could feel my hipbones again! and today i was walking around in kroger in my stretched-out lilys that i had worn all day and i could kinda see my hipbones too, and it made me feel skinny...

i swear i'm not anorexic guys lol

Mostly to fit into the sweet new clothes i can't get into yet. I also need to burn all the extra calories from a summer of partying and now football season.

Having a closet full of size 32 jeans that I can barely fit into after quitting smoking is all the motivation that I need work up a sweat.
