HELP choosing new Running Sneaker!

Hi my AF friends!!

I am looking for some help/advice/opinions on buying a new sneaker. I stopped working out for about 2 years and started up again about 2 months ago. All my life I have pretty much worn Nikes...I was always drawn to Shox styles because they are cool looking (not a good reason to buy sneakers I know). BUT the most recent pair of Shox I had purchased (really only wore them less than a month) are killing my feet/toes and legs when I attempt to run/fast walk of treadmill and street. I think my feet don't like Nike Shox anymore

I am open and ready to try a new brand or def. a new style. My sister got a pair of Brooks for running and swears by them.

Can anyone tell me their favorite running shoe?

For reference I am a size 6.5, regular width. I do not do long distance running, just light cardio and other than that would wear the sneakers to all the classes I attend (Core, conditioning, bootcamp, etc).

Thanks for any help!!

I like Asics for my regular cardio and weight training. I also really liked Sauconys when I ran a lot more.

I've been wearing Brooks running shoes for years and love them. More important than brand is the way that they fit/support your feet. If you have a running store near you (I always go to Running Fit), they can help you find the shoes that will work best for the way that you run (like pronation issues).

I am not a big runner either. I do 2-3 hrs of cardio classes a week & 2-3 hrs of body pump. I really like Nike Free Runs. They are very lightweight! They are more for a "barefoot" shoe, but I haven't had any problems using them. I've had them for 3-4 months & when I need a new pair I'll get another pair of Free Runs

Thanks Angela and Amy!

Angela - my sister did that exact thing - really got fitted for a running shoe and was reccommended the Brooks. i think i should do that...I am beginning to think I am flat footed and that's why my current shoes hurt my feet...but I really don't know, I should get a professional opinion!

I second going to a professional! I went to my local running store here and they watched me walk and run and then fit me with the best shoe. I have asics which I love! My second choice would have been saucony.

I would say go to a pro place too. I should go myself, I absolutely hate wearing shoes... I used to run on my treadmill barefoot, but it made my feet black.

I just got a pair of Mizunos and I love them! Prior to that, I wore a pair of Ryka.

I run daily anywhere from 2-6 miles and comfortable shoes are majorly important to me! I agree with the others that you should go get the help of a professional. That way you won't waste your $. Last year I bought a pair of Reebok Runtone and they were HELL to run in! I ended up selling them at a HUGE loss!

Nike makes the absolute worst running shoes in the world.

IMO, go to a store that looks at your running style and will find a shoe that will work for you.

I personally swear by asics.

I wouldn't buy sneakers online (if they are for actual exercise) unless you've tried the exact model on.

I used to wear Asics but for running shoes, they don't work for my feet. Their cross trainers are great for me though.

Definitely have yourself checked out at a running shop.

I've alternated between New Balance and Saucony, both of which I love. I do distance running/cardio in the gym. Shoes with lots of cushion in the sole are good for people who like to stay on cardio machines for 45+ minutes.
