Official Weight Loss/Fitness Thread!

Ok I saw the idea in the other post, so I guess I will start it! (Even though I should be studying for my midterm )

Ok so I guess we can post before pictures for right now, and maybe pictures every month? And also post what our plans and goals and motivations are, and then an update every week or so? Like, what we have done the the past week -- eating, exercising, etc. And most of all, encourage each other and give each other tips and advice!

I already have a ticker in my siggy, since I'm gonna be on the Price is Right in about a month, I want to loose about 15 pounds before then (wish it could be more, but that would be unhealthy). My other motivation is my PINK CRYSTAL SIGS!!!!! I bought them (well my boyfriend did) a size and half too small intentionally so that I would lose the weight!!!!!
So those are my motivators. I am 160 pounds right now, and would like to be 145 pounds by March 23 (when spring break starts).
I am going to exercise every day, doing cardio type work every other day, and toning/muscule work every OTHER day. I just bought a jump rope, medicine ball, and balance ball so I'm going to be using mainly those since the fitness center @ my apartmens SUCK! (The tredmill is really short so if I move back just a LITTLE bit, I'll fall off! )

Ah, ok no one is posting pics so I took mine down!

Whoever wants to join can!!! Start posting!

I would LOVE to join but i don't have any pics right now.

I am only about 110-112lbs right now but my gaol is to tone up as much as i can within the next month and a half for my vacation in Texas at the end of march.

Right now i have been running/fast walking 5-6 days a week on the tredmill and i will hopefully be getting some dumbells soon for my home so that i can do toning workouts while i am being a "slacker". I figure that if i like to watch 3 hours of TV every thursday (Ugly Betty, CSI and ER are my staples in life) i might as well be working out while i do it. I am also cutting out sugars from my diet as much as i can and upping the amounts of lean protien.

I will also be taking some pilate, yoga, Tai chi classes as soon as my mum gets back into town.

count me in!

5 pounds to lose. Motivated by... the fact that my SO and I just moved together and I am really packing the weight on!

It's going to be cardio for me for a month, 45 mins each day.

Do we need to post pics in our swim suits? I feel too self-conscious

No pics right now... but I'm weighing in at 142 right now. My goal is to lose 15-20 lbs. by my 36th birthday on June 10th... and mainly to take a couple of inches off my waist, which I just measured at 31".

Count me in!

I think we should start a food/eating diary or something. I'm good about working out, just not about my mass consumption of sweets!

Im in too! I weigh 131ish and I would like to go back to my 127ish weight and tone up alot!! I am planning a wedding for the fall (with a honeymoon to Mexico/beach) and so that is my goal! My other goal is to finish a 1/2 marathon in the fall also (running or walking, i just want to finish!)
I was working out pretty regularly for about 7 months but then stopped around christmas time so i feel like lost everything that I had worked towards!!!
I want to go 2-3 miles 5 days a week unless I do pilates, swim, or spin on those days. Then I want to do a fun exercise on saturdays (5k or frisbee or walk my dogs) and I want to do one day of relaxing yoga. Take sundays off!

Also i want to make that I make it to the steamroom at least 4 days a week (awesome for my sinuses!)
Finally I want to eat VERY heathly foods, Eatout only 1 time a week MAX and only organic meats. I will try to cut out most processed foods/

I think it will be hard but I just feel SOOOOOO good, mentally and physically, when I do keep this kind of lifestyle up!

SO, COUNT ME IN!

im in of course. just trying to tone up my body. currently going to the gym 3-4x a week doing mostly cardio and some weightwork.

diet just consists of lots of white meat, that's at least 75% lean. only red meat i eat is beef and it has to be 95%+ lean. cooked w/ evoo but most of the time it's grilled. i'm asian so i eat rice, but i'm planning to stay away from the family and eat my own brown rice. not a lot but just to get my cravings down.

i'm a sz 27 and would just really like to drop back down to a 25/26.

I just wanted to chime and say good luck to everyone!! I've already reached my goals (started June of 2006) and am maintaining now. What worked best for me was counting calories, eating the right types of food, and working out consistently. When I say 'counting calories' I don't want to give the wrong connotation..and it was not dreary or tedious at all. In fact I like playing with numbers so I made it pretty fun. But basically I wrote down what I ate (it is really surprising what can be in foods you think are healthy, so part of it was education on what i was eating and what i SHOULD be eating)...and then watched progress, modified as I went along. I still ate things I really liked and wanted, and we still went out for dinner 2x a week because we are total foodies..and I managed to lose 18 lbs over about 5-6 months. I went from a size 10 to a small size 6. I didn't have a set goal in my head..I just started working out more and more, kept eating the right types of foods for fuel, added in splurges here and there and waited. It took about 2 months for my body to drop any actual scale weight, but my body fat has dropped a lot...probably almost about 10% since last summer. I was never actually termed overweight for my height/body structure, but I definitely had some work to do on my body to make it look like I knew it could.

So don't be discouraged if you don't see INSTANT results. I always tell people who are trying to do this to see the big picture, think long term. Sometimes having a goal of 'i want to lose 15 lbs in 3 months' may not be the best way because what if your body doesn't want to drop 15 lbs in 3 months? You will very quickly become discouraged if things don't go as you 'planned'. I tried to listen to what my body wanted as well as what I wanted, we were in it together, working like a team. Some days I was upset with it and other times I felt proud of it. Just like any sort of relationship, hahaa. It's okay also to mess up or make a mistake, just remember each day is a new day and do not get mired down in 'negative' thinking.

For the most part I eat a low-fat, high-fiber diet..with lots of fruits and veggies, I make my own apple and banana bran muffins at home. If we have dessert it's sugar-free pudding or slow-churned ice cream mmmm...I make us a lot of Cooking Light recipes (Cooking Light - The Nation's Largest Food Magazine - Healthy Recipes) which are wonderful!! On the weekends we go out 2x but the rest of the week we eat at home. Some nights I don't have the time so we just have pre-packed healthy meals from Trader Joes (they have all their nutritional information on their pre-packed stuff, super helpful!!) and salads or soup from the pantry, etc. We even make 2% cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches on multigrain 45 cal toast (yum). I've gotten really creative and because I love food and the TASTE of things, I am always experimenting with things...make it fun if you can. People who come to dinner have no idea they are eating more healthily and I get rave reviews on some of my dishes, hehe.

In any case, good luck gals, my advice is to eat the right things 95% of the time, eat some bad for you stuff sometimes, don't get too obsessive or go overboard with cutting back OR indulging, have fun with it, and workout! Stay positive and you will see results.

i am in

i am currently 129 pounds and i was 134 about 10 days ago- i reckon i have only lost some water- by eating way less than i usually do. i am very lazy about working out so exercise wont be the way out for me.

i want to reach 120- 122 in 2 weeks time, it sounds veryy ambious but i think i can do it since i have done it before, and to me its the motivation to eat less and watch the calorie! and hopefully watching what i eat wont make me gain more weight! it doesnt sound very healthy but i think i am the type that can lose the first 10 pounds okay easily but find it hard to lose anymore- of course this all take time!

and hopefully i will be back to 115 which is my skinniest stage.

i am expecting a pair of 27 flynts in the post so i need to get skinny- also it would be nice to fit into my new rose a pocket 27 and water crystal 25 because right now they are bit tight and i havnt wear them at all...

good luck everyone!

today i have had: for lunch: a box of strawberry
for dinner: a soup with mushroom, spinach and prawns
and 1/5 torilla wrap with veggie! i think i may have a yogurt later 2night before my sleep, my friends always say its cruical not to eat too much (or none at all) before 4 hours of sleep if you want your diet to be successful!

awww i miss my crisps!

I am halfway to my weightloss goal...I've lost 19 lbs but its definately not been a quick weight loss! I've gone up and down and it seems like when I make too many strict goals for myself (must lose 3 pounds this week) I am more likely to feel disappointed in myself and then gorge on bad food. I've tried to eat less and choose low fat/low calorie and high fiber, eat more organic stuff, only eat out a couple times a week. I also think its important to look at the nutrition info before assuming something is a healthy alternative (for example the chicken salads at McD's are worse than the big macs.)
I'm at 148 now and my goal is 130 - I've already had to sell a few pairs of my jeans and I'm looking forward to (and dreading) having to sell the rest of them when I lose more weight.

Hey everyone!
I think out of everyone here I have the most weight to lose over all. While my ticker says my goal is only 13 pounds away, that's my first 10% goal at Weight Watchers, not my ultimate goal. I make 8 week mini-goals for myself to achive. I'm going to Israel in June so my mini-goal for that was not to have to wear my Miracle Suit anymore.

My actual total amount of weight that I want to lose is approximatly 60 pounds. Diet, exercise and my doctor monitoring have all been seeming to work very well. WW taught me portion control and the doctors got me exercising. If I can do it, anyone here can! You can always look to me if you need motivation. And with that said, I will post some pictures. It's from this past January, when I was at my heaviest, 197 pounds. The second photo is 6 weeks later and 9 pounds lighter, it's just my face but you can see a signifigant difference! And the third one is just for fun!

And remember weight loss is a journey, not a destination!

i'm half asian and my mom always has a rice cooker full of white rice. that was the hardest thing to get over. i still cheat with maybe half a cup, just like you...to kill the craving.

Something sweet that you can "indulge" in is Hershey's Kisses! To get your chocolate fix you can eat about 6 per day and its under 200 calories, and not too much sugar and fat!!! I love these things! I'm putting some in my yogurt right now while watching Grey's!

Food for today:
Breakfast I had pudding and a glass of water Not a good start! Lunch I had handful of peanuts, salad, 2 glasses water, and a package of the 100 calorie packs Chips Ahoy. Dinner I had a boca burger, then toast with peanut butter, then some hershey kisses. Later I had yogurt. And I think thats it!
Oh for working out I did some jump roping (but only for like 10 minutes, I'm working up to 30 minutes a day) and then used the balance ball and medicine ball for some toning.

^^

If you ever need help planning a menu let me know. WW has some awesome tips that I share with my group, plus I learned the proper way to keep a food diary and have been doing so for about 3 months now, it's so helpful!!! (And check out my pictures from higher up in the thread if you don't believe me!)

hey it seems like your diet is going to work! i am doing the same apart from not exercising because i really dont like to get sweaty and swimming is too cold me for the moment. i have been trying so hard today to not eat as much too, therefore treating myself to a burger tonight- i checked the calories- burger is 100kcal, (i thought a burger would be like 200 kcal++ but i check the packaging and it says 100kcal!!!), burger bun probably another 100 calorie, then red onion and tomato probaly wont be too much too... along with a drink, a dinner under 400 calorie sounds very good to me... the down side is i am waiting for my bf to come home- at 10pm so it wont be very good for stomach to eat such a late time. i am soo not gona sleep until late now!

although the calories might not be a lot, you have to watch your sugar intake.

if you can exercise for at least 15-20 minutes. body begins to burn at ~10 min depending on how intense you're working out but its better to work out a bit more.

I'm definitely in!

I was 165 and a 31/32 before I became pregnant, went up to 200lbs at delivery, and now am at 181 (at my last weigh-in 2 wks ago). I'm a large 31/small 32, and I'd like to be a 30 and go to 155.

I've started it w/small things, like cutting out soda (which was easier than I thought), and taking the stairs to my office instead of the elevator (3 flights), and trying to drink more water. I play double-header softball games on Fridays, but that's probably the most exercise I get. I can't work out at work b/c the gym is small and always occupied, I don't belong to a gym and don't want to buy a membership. What else could I do - suggestions please! Also, food suggestions or a grocery list would be great.

It's difficult with the food - I've tried to cut my calories, but I feel worn down and even more hungry. My hubby only really likes to eat bad stuff, so when I buy "good" food, it's hard to keep it fresh.

I'd rather not post a pic right now b/c to be honest, I don't like the way I look. I try to find the motivation to really get up and go, but it's difficult. (Not complaining, but just stating the truth)

I've signed up at sparkpeople.com, and it's helping, but I need more suggestions of what to do.
