Can anyone help me find a "joint friendly" workout routine?

I have been having trouble finding a workout that is right for me. I was hoping that someone here might be able to help. I'm not really looking to loose weight but I would really like to firm up my pudgy bits and get some muscle tone. The problem is that I have rheumatoid arthritis so I need something that won't aggravate my joints. I would really like to start doing some light weight training too but I'm not really sure where to start. I would appreciate any thought/suggestions.

At the moment I'm just doing the elliptical and the few weight machines my physio recommended at the gym and I've been trying to go for more hikes with my dog.

Thanks

I've tried aquafit type things but I find that they aren't much of a workout. They seem to be geared towards older ladies. Other than the arthritis I'm in pretty good shape. My biggest problem is finding something that is reasonably low impact but is still challenging for me.

yes the water aerobics are definitely geared more towards seniors
what about just swimming laps? I used to be on the swim team and it's a great workout. It works your whole body without any harsh impact on the joints.

^ I thought about that too but the pilates I do has a lot of wrist/knee involvement that I think would be too harsh on the joints but then I realized there are things like restorative pilates that specifically focus on people with joint problems so I also second that idea!

Swimming! I LOVE it, and it is so easy on your joints. I use a website that creates swim plans for you, and has all different skill levels. Here's the link: www.swimplan.com

I like swimming very much, swimming is my favorite hobby. In summer most of time I spend at beach side. During swing use glasses for eyes protection from sun and water.
