insanity after p90x?

has anyone done this? i just got insanity and am on week 12 of phase 3 of p90x. i had to try insanity bc it just looked so awesome and the reviews are so great. i have done it twice (on rest and plyo days). it is fabulous and gets your heartrate so cranked up so quickly. i love it! i think insanity must be to cardio what p90 is to resist training. i plan on doing it on non resist days of p90 for now and then when done with p90 just insanity. even the fit test was good/challenging in a good way. anyone else have input/insight that has started insanity? i am now addicted to home work outs. so much easier to do before kids are up than going to gym at crack of dawn!

I don't have much input but after Chalean extreme (P90x's little sister) I plan on attempting to do Insanity. Man I've seen the videos and it looks, well insane. Hopefully I can keep up since I am usually not a big fan of cardio. Let me know it goes for you when you start on the normal plan for it.

thanks for your reply! i officially started insanity and am also on the last week of p90x. i just couldnt wait the reviews reeled me in and it really is great. it goes by pretty fast, too! def more hard core cardio than p90x but i think i needed to do p90 first to get ready for it! i am enjoying it so far and also like the lesser duration of time.. it's all maximized time though.. the "breaks" are short and sweet i will keep you posted or feel free to pm me. i have heard good things ab chalean, too but havent done that one. that is more cardio intensive, too right? and five days?

^^^its more weight intensive than cardio and yeah just 5 days. How long are the Insanity videos? Anything over 35 minutes and I stop before I even start I have 35 more days left on Chalean then I'm going to take a week off and hopefully switch to Insanity right after the break if it's not too long and tough.

i am completing the second week and i think the longest has only been 41 min (including "warm up" haha and cool down) the time really flies. i think shorter ones may be 35 but not sure about the second month..

Insanity is just that...insane. I took Shaun T's master class in NYC last weekend and i have to tell you this is not for the novice. Get ready for major drills, plyometrics to the max, etc. Be ready to sweat so much you are sliding on the floor from dripping. Quite possibly one of the hardest cardio workouts I ever did.

I have a hard time with Plyo and was considering getting one of those mini-trampolines to use for it.What do you think? I stand on my feet 8+ hours a day and have been for 16 years so I think that may be the problem.

Alanna...missed ya!

Well if its that intense, then I don't think I can possibly hang. Well I'm pretty sure of it since I can barely last doing just an intense 30 minute walk on the treadmill I might have to break these workouts up throughout the day until I can get into the groove of things since I strongly dislike doing cardio.

yeah, it definitely has an appropriate name (insanity) and i am often dripping in a pool of my own sweat.. but i do love it! the "meat" of the work out has been ab 23 ish min (with a hard core warm up though, at first didnt even realize it was the warm up bc it was seeming like the real part of the wo then i saw stretch across the screen it def is VERY cardio intensive but i am enjoying it and it is challenging me, for sure! i would agree it's not for the novice, too. the plyocardio on this is a lot more challenging imo than p90 plyo.. the last day of week two is actually longer bc he has you add abs to the wo. shaun t is a really good, motivating likable coach/instructor and encourages breaks/modifying if needed.

farris, re the trampoline. i think that is actually a great idea for p90 cardio to take some of the hard impact off your feet if you are on them all day. like a floor mini trampoline, right?

Yes a floor mini.I think Im going to try it....but I just realized that the Lean version of P90X doesnt have plyo in the rotation.

Just checking in to see how it is coming along with the Insanity program...
I'm on my last week of Chalean so I definitely need to find something else to do.

remonb, i remem you said you may try it after chalean. i give it two thumbs up!! month one is excellent and less duration of a work out but it's still first-rate. month two is harder and the wo are longer. i am really enjoying it!

if you love cardio, shannonrae, this is for you!! it is amazing.. very hard and challenging but i absolutely love it and have been so committed to it. i was committed to p90x , too but this i think i look forward to even MORE. p90 was great for resistance and challenged me a lot there but i was always supplementing and wanting more cardio. insanity is extreme cardio and i THOUGHT i was in decent cardio shape before.. it is no joke!

he is very likeable (shaun t) and it is not boring. very fun and challenging in a great way! i am on month two (there is a recov for a week in between month one and two). i am doing it this week and part of next week but then have to put it on hold bc i am having minor leg surgery on both legs and have to only walk for 7-10 days post surg. theni plan on jumping right back in (that will be month two week two). i am really IN LOVE with the program. you guys should try it! feel free to pm me with any other q's.

Yes Im at it again after a 4 month hiatus from working out...(not a good idea)
I thought my lungs were going to explode during the warm up! I had forgotten how much you struggle the first week during the warmup.
I got tired of it too but I got great results from it.I also renewed my Bodybugg subscription so its on now.I didnt care for Turbofire so its going to Ebay.

I LOVE insanity. I haven't really been following the routine because I only do it about twice a week (plus palates twice a week and other cardio such as running/elliptical twice a week) and it has gotten me in great shape in such a short amount of time (after 3 weeks you should see a difference, and i just generally have more energy). it's definitely REALLY hard at first but don't get discouraged - it does get better once you're used to it.

I should add - I couldn't do 100% of any of the workouts when I started. But as long as you are doing at least 70-80% you're getting a good workout.
