I can only recommend going on a health kick. It isn't necessarily fast, but it works if you stick to it. NO sugar, NO soft drinks (even diet), lots of water, and fruits and vegetables.

get so drunk tonight that you'll be too hungover to eat tomorrow...

jk...I mean, especially if you're a chick, your weight can vary by as much as 5lbs from day to day. I bet you didn't actually gain 4 pounds that fast. could be water weight or just natural variations. Better to weigh yourself first thing in the AM, naked, after you've gone to the bathroom. (clothes weigh at least a pound--I've shipped out enough of them to know!)

also drink a lot of water...it'll fill you up and flush out any possible salt/bloating/water retention you may have that's causing the weight gain.

You're probably eating high-sodium, low-fiber foods, so you're probably holding onto some bulk and water weight. Eat whole grains, lots of fruit and veg (you want fruit and veg at every meal), lean meats, legumes... you'll be back to normal before you know it.

Yes, yes, yes!
Also, you run the risk of fucking up your metabolism (slowing it down) by severe dieting, so the next time you gain four pounds and freak out about it, it will be harder to lose.

Lots of fruits and veggies! Also, drink a lot of water! Protein (eggs, cheese, meat) and fiber in moderation will "stay with you" - good luck!

Of course you already lost 2 pounds. You didn't eat enough and you probably lost only water. A healthy and long lasting weight loss is 1 pound/week and there's no magic pill for it.
3 meals with snacks in between is the way to go.

What are those?

Just kiddin'. I am also frustrated about the "lose X lbs fast". And people think that mindless dieting has no consequences ...

I totally agree; crash, careless dieting always has more bad consequences than healthy eating habits.

Best diet that I've done.

Phase 1

ĚDays: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
ĚCarbs: less than 50 grams per day
ĚProtein: 2 grams per pound of bodyweight
ĚCardio: 20 to 30 minutes at low level intensity every day.

During this phase the carbs are kept very low. All the carbs should be eaten after your workout to minimize protein breakdown that happens after training.

If for example you weight 200 lbs you need to take in 400 grams of
protein. The cardio is done merely to coax the body into giving up more of the stored fat.

Phase 2

ĚDays: Thursday and Friday
ĚCarbs: 100 to 150 grams per day
ĚProtein: 105. to 1.75 grams per pound of bodyweight
ĚCardio: 40 minutes interval training each day

You would think that the extreme approach taken in phase 1 would do the trick to melt the fat and give you those six pack abs. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Strict dieting will lead to poor muscle recovery and flat muscles.

When muscles are flat the body can appear to be fatter. That's where
this phase comes in.

The additional carbs assists in glycogen recovery and prevent the
reserves from being drained.

When glycogen levels are low you will appear to be fatter and your
muscle will not recover as quickly. On these days split your carbs as follows:

1. 30-40 g in morning
2. 20-35 g pre-workout
3. 50-75 post workout

With the extra carbs you'll be able to train and do cardio harder. I recommend alternating the cardio between going hard for 2 to 3 minutes and then using a much lower intensity for 2 to 3 minutes. Continue this pattern fir the full 40 minutes of cardio.

This interval training will kick up your metabolism Best time for
cardio in this phase is in the morning on an empty stomach.

Phase 3

ĚDays: Saturday and Sunday
ĚCarbs: 2 grams per pound of bodyweight
ĚProtein: 1 gram per pound of bodyweight
ĚCardio: none take the time off

These are the easier days. Carbs go up and protein comes down.

Will there it is following this program will have you ripped in 6 to 8 weeks.

Figure out your menu...

* Eat clean sources of food, chicken breast, and tuna.
* Lean ground beef and other choices.
* You can figure in a protein supplement just make sure it isn't high in carbs.

Obviously don't continue for too long if you only want to lose a few pounds. This guarantees 2 pounds lost per week, regardless of your metabolism.

I'm pretty sure the OP is a chick...and would rather be "thin" than "ripped"

lmao . I have these directions saved on my computer, but its actually a guide my friend, who trains at LA Fitness posted on the net. Gender is irrelevant, it basically an easy way for your body to adjust properly to losing weight.

The routine reminds me of what hikers do when the climb Everest. They don't climb straight to the top but have to adjust their bodies to the climate by climbing up, then back down continuously.

This might not apply to the OP, but for all you out there looking to quickly lose weight by simply eating less, this process is a lot tougher than you think. It takes quite a bit of time to lose (and gain) 4 lbs of fat. Remember that 1lb of fat = 3500kcal. So in order to truely lose 4 lbs just by eating less, you'll have to be expending a lot more energy (kcal) than intaking. To be negative 14,000kcal in 4 days is nearly impossible. That's why I predicted that the OP mostly gained and lost a lot of water weight. As another member mentioned, there can be many other factors that could've contributed to the acute "weight gain."

Weight loss is a long term process; exercise and healthy dieting are key. I also recommend fiber! It's good for your colon!
